Project Engineer. The Town of Palm Beach planned to replace overhead wires (power, cable and phone) along the roadways within
three specific areas. The overhead lines will be replaced with new underground lines that will bear less than 10 feet below the pavement
grade (usually at about 3 feet deep). Terracon provided a geotechnical study and recommendations pertaining to subsoils that require
removal (if any), excavations, dewatering, pipe bedding, backfill materials, and compaction requirements. The firm's field
testing/exploration program included obtaining underground utility clearance and right-of-way (ROW) permits, drilling Standard
Penetration Test (SPT) borings, core samples, and maintenance of traffic (MOT) plan. Firm's Fee: $9,500
Senior Geotechnical Engineer. The NSID planned to construct a stormwater pump station at the north end of the NSID R/W Canal,
approximately 100 feet south of Loxahatchee Road. The pump station would be used to transport water from the RNV Canal to the
Hillsboro Canal. Terracon performed geotechnical engineering services and provided geotechnical engineering recommendations
relative to the design and construction of pile foundations based on the pump station building loads and other design aspects. Firm's
Ground modification work was required for the MSE retaining wall system as part of the $791 million expansion project that was
scheduled to be operational by September 2014. Some of the MSE walls would be located west of U.S. Highway 1 (US 1) while others
would be located east of US 1. Two ground modification methods were used beneath the MSE retaining wall system: (1) deep mixing
wherein cement was admixed with the fine grained and organic soils to render them stronger and less compressible than they pre-
existed; and (2) dynamic densification to compact deposits of loose granular materials. Dunkelberger Engineering & Testing, now a
Terracon Company, provided geotechnical consultation/support services for the MSE retaining wall system to the Odebrecht Central
team. Firm's Fee: $166,081
