City of Sunny Isles Beach | RFQ No. 20-07-01 | Continuing Professional Consulting Services (CCNA)
Final Deliverables – Prior to issuance of any final deliverables
to the City, the survey information and data backup will be
routed through the CGA QA/QC process to ensure the City
is provided with a fully accurate survey document, that is
in compliance with all City, County and State land surveying
requirements.
Extension of Staff
CGA will work with the City of Sunny Isles Beach as an
extension of their staff by keeping open communication via
emails, phone calls and frequent status/progress meetings.
Upon assignment of the project, CGA’s Project Manager,
Steve Watts, will have a kickoff meeting with City staff to
review the tasks required, the approximate schedule, budget
and staff requirements for the project. CGA will request
that staff provide any as-built information, previous project
surveys or construction plans on site or adjacent to the
project. Upon completion of due diligence, CGA will provide
a detailed surveying scope of services for staff to review and
approve. Once a Notice-to-Proceed has been issued, survey
crews will be on-site within days to perform data collection.
City staff will be updated as to project progress, schedule
and completion date throughout the duration of the project.
Issues or Concerns of Significance
We believe the issues or concerns in relation to this project
is that as advances are made with respect to highly technical
RTK GPS and 3D Scanner survey equipment that it is even
more imperative that the City’s consultant understand the
capabilities, but also the limitations of such equipment. Our
experienced staff has been through the pratfalls of the various
issues with this type of equipment and have the knowledge
of when to use this type of equipment but more importantly
know when not to use it based on the specific survey task.
Advanced Survey Equipment
Some of the most state-of-the art surveying equipment that
exists today is part of our inventory. The Leica ScanStation
C10 is a 3D Laser Scanner which enables us to develop
high definition surveys for such applications as water and
wastewater treatment plants, pump station rehabilitation,
facilities management inside of buildings and a multitude of
other survey projects. As CGA is a full-service consulting
company providing civil engineering, landscape architecture,
GIS and land planning services, the survey department is well
versed in providing detailed and accurate surveying data for
engineering projects relating to water distribution systems,
storm drainage and sanitary sewer infrastructure.
As CGA is one of the few South Florida consulting firms to
have a full-scale GIS department providing data population
and application development for a number of government
entities, the survey department has developed capabilities to
provide efficient field data collection for rapid download into
GIS databases. Using Trimble Real Time Kinematic (RTK)
GPS equipment with Blue Tooth wireless technology and tied
into the Florida Continuously Operating Reference Stations
(CORS) allows us to collect vast amount of data referenced
to the latest horizontal and vertical datums as established by
the National Geodetic Survey Department (NGS). Having a
sophisticated IT department working in conjunction with the
GIS and Survey departments all under one umbrella, enables
data transfer and database entry from remote locations
seamlessly. Issues that plague large GIS\Survey projects
regarding incompatibility between field and office, software
application to software application are non-existent at CGA.
14
