RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS FOR
Continuing Professional Consulting Engineering Services -Environmental Engineering
#BID 20-07-01

10
• GBTS maintains an in-house and experienced staff of fully
accredited and licensed professionals. We do not have to rely on
any outside vendors or subcontractors to provide the technical
tasks requested by the client under this contract. The staff
proposed has worked together (as a team) for over 35+ years. This
configuration of staff results in a consistent level of quality with no
variation on the approach or project deliverable.

• All accredited GBTS professionals undergo annual refresher
training. Training classes are often held exclusively for GBTS with
few or no outside students allowed. This is done so that we can
review project specific issues which arise and collectively determine
how to resolve them while maintaining the Standard of Care for the
Industry. This level of refresher training is far superior to the norm
which often is a prepared class which simply reviews theoretical
situations that in fact have little or no practical relevance.

• Field procedures are established by the Licensed Professional Consultant and reviewed with all technical staff prior
to deployment for a given project. This ensures that proper testing methods will be used and also that these
methods will be consistent from one project to the next.

• GBTS participates in a quality control program established and ran by the American Indust rial Hygiene Association
(AIHA). Specifically, this program requires that each staff who reads asbestos air sample , for example, conduct
annual analysis of standard samples send by the AIHA. This ensures both accuracy and precision when reading the
Client samples in the field.

• All deliverable reports or other documents are peer reviewed prior to sending to the client. This is done regardless
of who drafts the report. Typically, the peer review is conducted by a senior level member prior to review by t he
licensed professional. The result is that written reports are reviewed by TWO levels of professional staff.
GBTS Health and Safety Program Policy
GBTS is committed to protecting the health and safety of its employees by supporting a "safety first" work ethic,
monitoring the work environment to minimize the occurrence of accidents, conducting vigorous investigations of
accidents when they occur, and providing training.
GBTS will endeavor to maintain a safe and healthful work environment, provide safe working equipment and
conditions, train employees in safe work practices, provide necessary personal protective equipment, and, in the case
of injuries, make available first aid and medical services.
It is our goal to minimize injuries and / or illnesses in the workplace through implementation of a formal Health and
Safety Program, on file with the Corporate Safety Director and HR Manager. This program includes initial and ongoing
employee training on such topics as hazard recognition and control, protection p rocedures and personal protective
equipment, air monitoring, medical surveillance, and other elements.
Safety procedures are communicated to employees through their first -line supervisor and site-specific Health and
Safety Plans (HASPs) which are typically developed for each job site. The GBTS Employee Safety and Health Handbook
is provided to each employee upon hire. Additionally, GBTS employees are responsible for compliance with applicable
state, local, and federal regulations. Client-specified safety requirements may apply, and will be followed by GBTS
employees wherever appropriate.
