BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) TSF provided a Roadway Soils Survey for Prospect NE 10th Avenue Bridge in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The bridge was replaced with a wider typical section to accommodate increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic. TSF’s geotechnical field study included SPT borings, pavement cores and borehole permeability testing; reviewed readily available published topographic and soils information. This information was obtained from the “Soil Survey of Miami-Dade County, Florida” published by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) and USGS Maps; classified soil samples using the AASHTO Soil Classification System and performed limited laboratory testing to establish soil properties. The laboratory testing included grain size analysis, moisture content and organic content determination, Atterberg limit tests, and corrosion tests. Provided a geotechnical engineering report including geotechnical evaluations and recommendations regarding permanent cut and fill slopes, excavations, ground water control, pavement design considerations, on-site suitability, vibration and settlement monitoring and pre and post construction survey. TSF also provided Geotechnical Engineering Services for the referenced project. TSF’s geotechnical field study included SPT borings, pile and drilled shaft capacity analyses; reviewed the information obtained for the “Soil Survey of Miami-Dade County Area, Florida” published by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) Maps; visually classified and stratified the samples in the laboratory using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). Performed laboratory testing. Provided a preliminary geotechnical engineering report including engineering evaluations and preliminary recommendations regarding driven concrete pile axial capacity, drilled shaft axial capacity, construction considerations, and monitor existing structures. <br />The project was completed on time and within budget in 2020 25.
