<br />First and only MDC School of Architecture professor to be honored with the AIA Miami Chapter Education LeadershipAward. A prolific writer, Mr. Ortega has also published over seven books, of which he has received two awards.
<br />BEA Architects is currently performing courtyard renovations to the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami, FL. Some of the improvements include the select demolition, the removal and replacement of the existing canopy fabric to install a removable turnbuckle canopy system; the removal of the existing paver system for a new permeable paver system.

<br />BEA Architects was contracted by the City of Miami Beach to design a fully enclosed, air conditioned modern facility with new interior finishes, new lighting, impact resistant windows, new reception area, offices, conference room, flexible casual seating, enhanced security and a contemporary retail environment. The project was completed within the City’s budget and time schedule, without disruption to the Tennis Center’s ongoing operations.

<br />BEA Architects was selected to perform waterside, marine, cruise terminal and overall logistics master planning as the design architect for the cutting edge multi-phased Seaport Cruise Terminal & Mixed-Use Development in Istanbul, Turkey. The winning masterplan includes a vibrant mix of shops, restaurants, cultural attractions, offices, hotels including a Peninsula Flag Hotel and a convention center that is thoughtfully situated over 21 acres, blending with the city’s existing urban fabric.
<br />BEA was once again selected to renovate Port Canaveral’s Disney Cruise Terminal 8 and Cruise Terminal 10 and will include the design of three new additions, adding approximately 8,164 SF to the existing building. The new additions will include a Disney-themed front plaza that features living green sculptures of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy and Pluto, over a lush floral garden that surrounds an iconic sculpture of Steamboat Willie.

<br />BEA Architects was hired by the City of Hallandale Beach to provide conceptual design at selected sites along Foster Road to articulate the City's vision. The City envisioned the creation of a mixed-use residential and commercial facility that brings together new market-rate housing, retail, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The design features the creative use of "shipping containers" to realize quick, cost-efficient design solutions in a dynamic urban setting.
