Gina also played an instrumental role
in the FDEP Dive Team during her time with the department and leads the scientific dive team at Cummins Cederberg.
19. RELEVANT PROJECTS
a. (1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Baker’s Haulover Inlet Benthic Survey,
Bal Harbour Village, FL
PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If applicable)
2019 NA
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Marine Biologist. Conducted a benthic survey of natural resources of the surrounding borrow areas, proposed to be
dredged, to map the extent, and characterize benthic habitats present including seagrasses, and other potential marine
resources of concern (e.g., corals). Data was collected relative to density, species composition and overall condition of
each benthic community type Multiple species of seagrass, including the threatened Johnsons’ seagra ss (Halophila
johnsonii) were identified and mapped. A field observation report was produced. All scientific diving was conducted in
compliance with 29 CFR 1910.410 and the American Academy of Underwater Scientists (AAUS) criteria.
b. (1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Black Point Marina Environmental Survey and Permitting,
Miami, FL
PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES CONSTRUCTION (If applicable)
2019 Ongoing
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Project Manager. Performed a vegetation and marine resource survey along approximately 600 linear feet of shoreline
to identify the location, density, and species of natural resources (seagrass and mangroves). The findings of the survey
were summarized in a Field Observation Report, which was considered for the design of the dock structures to avoid and
minimize impacts to resources. Processed and secured permits from the USACE, FDEP and DERM, including the BCC
public hearing and SDRC approval. Permitting faced several challenges including resource impacts, navigation impacts,
ishallow water depth and submerged land ownership issues.
c (1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) (2) YEAR COMPLETED
Jungle Island Shoreline Stabilization and Marina,
Miami, FL
PROFESSIONAL
SERVICES
CONSTRUCTION (If applicable)
Ongoing Ongoing
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Project Manager. Performed a vegetation and marine resource survey along approximately 1,100 linear feet of shoreline
to identify the location, species and extent of natural resources. The findings of the survey were summarized in a Field
Observation Report, which was considered for the design of the dock structures to avoid and minimize impacts to
resources. Processed and secured permits from DERM, FDEP and USACE which included FWS consultation for the
American crocodile, for the shoreline stabilization phase. Permitting was complicated due to the dense presence of
mangroves onsite. Design and permitting for the marina phase for public transient use is underway.
d.
