Our Foundation I Established over a century ago in
1892, Osborn Engineering is proud to be one of the
nation's oldest engineering firms, continuing a tradition
of excellence through outstanding quality in engineering.
Osborn's founder, Frank Osborn, developed new methods
for concrete testing and authored a forerunner of today's
American Institute of Steel Construction Manual (The
Osborn Tables). These and other innovations dramatically
increased the efficiency of structural and civil engineering
design and consequently made the landmark projects of
the twentieth century possible.
Today I Osborn is a fully integrated multi -disciplined
design firm that uses a specialized team approach to
engineering projects. These teams are comprised of a
staff of over 200 professionals that provide designs for all
phases of a wide range of projects. Osborn has specialists
in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing,
fire protection/life safety, technology engineering and
commissioning.
Osborn's reputation as a firm is based upon the character
of our employees and by providingthe latest advancements
in engineering to our clients. As an employee -owned firm,
each Osborn employee is committed to education and
advancement - ensuring that every project is completed
with a sense of pride.
Business Partners I Osborn has graduated from many
business assistance programs throughout its history,
most recently as a Small Business in the City of Cleveland.
As such, we understand the importance of these efforts
and strive to involve firms that are certified through
these programs. We will make every effort to use sub -
consultants that meet the certification requirements and
will meet or exceed the Florida Statutes' goals. This will
begin when we partner with ESI Consulting Engineers to
provide assistance with the mechanical and electrical
scopes of issued task orders as part of this contract.
Work Understanding I Our approach to this type of
contract is based on the key aspect of working with
clients to understand the needs of each task. We can
then operate within the budget while also constantly
testing our designs to ensure quality. We recognize that
the entire success of these projects will hinge on our
expertise in providing a solid, coordinated design and
on-time responses within the projects' schedules to meet
the needs of the City. We will work with the City to gain a
complete understanding of your expectations. If problems
with the budget do occur, we will identify that problem
as early as possible and work with all involved to get the
task back on track.
Project Performance I It isourteam's philosophy that we
have total responsibility for the accuracy, creativity, and
completeness of projects associated with this solicitation.
This team has the commitment to excellence, staff
resources, and experience required to deploy multiple lead
designers and engage separate design teams to meet all
situations presented as part of this contract.
Osborn has weekly management meetings to discuss
and review manpower requirements. This allows us the
opportunity to know our resources and when we need to
increase or decrease staff for a project. We understand
that adherence to schedules is extremely important
to a governmental project with funding sources and
construction time allotments.
Current Workload I Osborn is well positioned and
available to work with the City of Sunny Isles Beach on
upcoming projects for this continuing services contract as
illustrated in the Workload Table in Section H - "Additional
Information" on page 42.
Our Florida operations have a good mix of large and
small projects that are contracted through various prime
and sub -consultant relationships. Our current backlog is
analyzed on a weekly basis and necessary resources are
reviewed in conjunction with this effort to ensure we are
properly staffed to meet project obligations. Because of
this standard operating procedure, task orders issued
through this contract will not be impacted by backlog, but
will be addressed through an informed decision process
supported by a deep resource base of professionals at
Osborn Engineering.
The flow chart on the following page outlines a typical
timeframe associated with continuing services task
orders.
RFQ 20-07-01 CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES SECTION C - PAGE 7
