BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost)
Underwater Engineering Services, Inc. (UESI), UESI was selected by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to perform
underwater condition assessments of water control structures. The work orders to date have included the inspection of 23, 36 and 38
structures for FY17-18, FY18-19 and FY19-20, respectively, including culverts, spillways, pump stations, boat locks, and weirs. The
professional engineering fee to date has totaled $1M. A UESI Florida professional engineer was on site at all times supervising the dive
operation and providing an engineering assessment. The diving operation was surface supplied with full video and audio communication.
As part of the deliverable UESI furnished raw videos, edited with title pages. The inspection data and photographs were entered into the
District’s Archival Tool. A metadata file (in Excel form) was provided that listed the team members, dates, and a summary of the structure
deficiencies and recommended repairs.
This project had underwater and topside condition assessments of water control structures – which would be similar to bridge elements or
seawalls. Ratings followed a system set up by the District. Inspections for Sunny Isles would follow those set up by FHWA and FDOT,
which would be similar.
This project included recorded video and audio of the inspection, which may or may not be required for the Sunny Isles project.
Team experience:
Mr. O’Connor was the Project Manager and on-site engineer for this work. Mr. Faulk was dive supervisor for approximately 30% of this
work. Mr. Trotta was dive supervisor for approximately 30 structures, and performed the inspection of several structures.

25.
