III. HOW DOES SAFETY FUNCTION IN OUR COMPANY
In our Company, safety is everyone's responsibility. It is a chain that runs from the workers all the way
to the President. Each employee in his/her job is a reflection of Safety in the Workplace in action.
Each employee is responsible for his/her own safety and must be vigilant of each co-worker's safety and
of the safety of the general public. Although we are all responsible for this, some of the positions directly
related with ensuring safety in the workplace are as follows:
Supervisor: In charge of their own safety and of each assigned crew member, as well as the safety of
the general public. The supervisor is in charge of teaching the crew members to achieve the goal of
zero accidents or job-related illnesses. Each week, the supervisor must analyze with crew the safety
issues of the week.
Manager: Oversees the implementation &adherence of safety procedures, regulations and policies at
each project. Assists the supervisor in organizing projects according to Company policy and Safety
standards.
Client Relations Managel•: As part of the job responsibility, the CRM will constantly evaluate the
needed Safety policies, rules and procedures, determined by the requirements of the job and/or
contract.
President: Oversight of the safety program, measuring its effectiveness and compliance. Maintain
company complaint to OSHA regulations and standards.
Safety Director/HR: Responsibilities include preparing the suggested issues to be discussed at the
weekly meetings, implementing new rules and procedures, maintaining updated records,
transportation safety and of periodically inspecting projects. He/she also reviews all workplace
injuries or claims and submits all reports to OSHA per their requirements.
IV. SAFETY COMMITTEE
Safety Committee Organization:
A safety committee has been established to recommend improvements to our workplace safety program,
and to identify corrective measures needed to eliminate or control recognized safety and health hazards.
The committee consists of one minimum from each job title:
Crew Member
Irrigation Tech
Supervisor Manager
Safety Director/HR Client Relations Manager
Of these employees there should be a safety committee coordinator and an emergency contact that will be
available for any emergencies. The crew members that attend the meetings need to be alternated
periodically as needed.
