NZ Consultants was hired, in 2016, by the City of Lake Worth Beach. The city determined it was necessary <br />to conduct a review and evaluation of its current Comprehensive Plan to reflect changes in st ate <br />requirements, current City’s conditions, challenges, and future community trends. Pursuant to Chapter <br />163.3191, Florida Statutes (F.S.), local governments are required to evaluate their local comprehensive <br />plan every seven years to determine if plan amendments are necessary since the last update of the <br />Comprehensive Plan and notify the State Land Planning agency as to its determination. <br />To prepare the subject amendments, the City contracted NZ Consultants (NZC) to work with the <br />Sustainability Department as well as other City’s Departments. <br />The Comprehensive Plan update focused on strengthening Lake Worth Beach as a sustainable community <br />incorporates multi-modal transportation network; compact, walkable, mixed-use patterns of <br />development; provision of civic spaces and interconnected open spaces for recreation; economic vitality <br />and job choices; diversify its housing supply; and a robust educational system. <br />Project Highlights <br />The proposed Comprehensive Plan <br />amendment encompasses the following <br />eleven (11) elements including a new <br />element-Economic Development-and <br />the addition of Neighborhoods to the <br />existing Housing Element: <br />▪Future Land Use <br />▪Transportation <br />▪Housing & Neighborhoods <br />▪Infrastructure <br />▪Coastal Management <br />▪Conservation <br />▪Recreation and Open Space <br />▪Intergovernmental <br />Coordination <br />▪Capital Improvement <br />▪Public School Facilities <br />▪Economic Development <br /> Client <br />City of Lake Worth <br />Dept. for Community Sustainability <br />City of Lake Worth <br />1900 2nd Avenue North <br />Lake Worth, FL 33461 <br />561-586-1647 <br />www.lakeworth.org <br />Sustainable Comprehensive Plan <br />City of Lake Worth Beach <br />We Plan and Design Memorable Places <br />www.nzconsulants.net 71
