Request for Qualifications No. 21-11-01, Professional Planning and Zoning Consulting
Services, including Civil and Traffic Engineering for the City of Sunny Isles Beach

PAGE 16
Parking Studies
Regarding parking, it should also need to be evaluated with detail to make sure it is in compliance with parking criteria
as per the standards and codes. It is important to mention that parking within the city is very prone to be served by
valet parking that will be required to be analyzed and developments are going through new considerations within
County and the City like the implementation of mechanical parking, parklets, zero parking developments; as well as,
changes in impact fees approach are being debated at this time.

Transit Planning
CALTRAN has been involved in SMART plan corridors analysis, planning and PD&E studies, including Flagler Street
PD&E and potential future BRT through the corridor, Beach corridor,
East-West Corridor, and also Kendall BRT studies. CALTRAN used
big data (AirSage) to analyze movement between County zones in
order to estimate how adding a transit system to Flagler Street will
attract more users. We are familiar with the data collection
classification, are able to apply our video processing systems to count
transit system traffic, ridership, boarding, etc. Our before/after study
for the Downtown Street Bus Preferential Lane analysis included the
transit system improvement, from the demand side (ridership) to
operation (stop and speed of transit system).
Bicycle and Pedestrian Path Design
CALTRAN has the appropriate experience for the planning and
design of possible proposed additional improvements to the extensive
bike trail paths or bike lanes that share the road with traffic. Our team
has experts dealing with master plans that encompass multimodal
transportation issues and context-sensitive solutions to
accommodate ancillary facilities to enhance the preservation and
amenities. recently, CALTRAN completed designs for the Underline Phase 2 along US-1 as well performed the
LUDLAM Trail traffic analysis as part of the PD&E. Our team also performed the lane elimination analysis for Biscayne
Blvd. at Bayfront which included pedestrian and bicycle demand analysis.
