BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost)
Project Description: The Corradino Group, Inc. has played a critical
role in the master planning process that led to the implementation
of a $97million general obligation bond initiative, working in line
with the City of Miami Beach’s efforts for rejuvenation which
began in the early 1990s.
Ahead of its time, Miami Beach recognized that to emerge from a
less than glamorous 1980s economic period, that infrastructure
and public commitment were vital to attract and support
redevelopment. We developed three master plans for
transportation, water and sewer, and drainage.
Corradino developed the Miami Beach Municipal Mobility Plan,
which looked at the City from a multimodal perspective. The result
was the generation of nearly 100 projects. We also won an Award
of Excellence from the American Planning Association. Many of
the resulting projects were the first of their kind in the state,
including the Transportation Concurrency Management Areas, an
Automated Concurrency Management System, and a significant
effort to develop a Multimodal Transportation System, which
would include greenways, trails, and transit. Corradino planned
the Miami Beach Electrowave shuttle and the first municipal
circulator to run on battery power.
Corradino produced extensive urban design plans for Biscayne Point and North Shore neighborhoods. We worked with FDOT
District 6 to perform the first approved traffic calming project on a state road in the districts with the Alton Road Traffic Calming
Project. Corradino studied the BayLink Mass Transit Project to connect Miami Beach with mainland Miami. As the City grew, we
performed the Coastal Communities Transportation Master Plan, an extension of the Municipal Mobility Plan, which looked at
multimodal transportation on all of the cities on the barrier islands. Importantly, this included a sophisticated origin and
destination study that tracked movement in and out of the area, shedding new light on local and regional travel patterns.
Similarly, Corradino updated the City’s Transportation Element, which furthered the concepts of shared bikes and Zipcars. We
also conducted the citywide parking study surveying every parking space in the municipality.
Corradino created the design of Espanola Way, widely held as one of the most beautiful streets in South Florida. We recently
conducted a traffic analysis on the closure of this road and surrounding roads to vehicular traffic. Corradino continues to assist
with these significant efforts, with reviews of development applications, and we then present findings to the Planning and Zoning
Board and City Council. The Corradino Group continues its partnership with Miami Beach spanning twenty years.
25. FIRMS FROM SECTION C INVOLVED WITH THIS PROJECT
a.
