The project consisted of creating a go-forward landscape roadmap guide that will be implemented for years to come. Miller Legg conducted a citywide tree inventory assessment, an evaluation of existing landscape, irrigation and hardscape conditions, an overall assessment of the existing character of the road corridors, and an opportunities and constraints analysis. The overall goal was to create a Landscape Master Plan that provides the City with typical conceptual landscape concepts, recommendations, guidelines, and implementation strategies to follow. The Master Plan was unanimously adopted by the City Commission. Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces (PROS) Projects – In the past 5 years alone, Miller Legg has performed LA and arborist services for a number of PROS parks projects, such as Greynolds Park Playground Design, Devon Aire Park, South Dade Park, Sabal Chase Park and Curtin Interactive Park. Kendall Soccer Park Turf Replacement as well as providing LA Support Services as an in-house consultant. Miller Legg has also performed a number of other services for PROS, including Surveying and SUE services under a continuing services contract (Underline Brickell Backyard, Kendall Soccer Park Turf Replacement, Oak Grove Park, Matheson Hammock Park) and environmental and civil services for projects such as the Biscayne Everglades Greenway Trail Segment D. Florida Department of Transportation District 6 Biscayne Boulevard - For three sections of the award- winning historic Biscayne Boulevard roadway in the City of Miami, Miller Legg prepared tree removal and relocation for current roadway construction, as well as future planting, hardscape, and site amenity documents. This project required coordination with the Miami Downtown Development Agency (DDA), collection of field data, documentation of the information in graphic and text formats, and coordination of the proposed improvements with local municipalities and community associations. This five-year Biscayne Boulevard revitalization project was part of a multi-year continuing service contract with FDOT District 6. The project was recognized by the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects for Outstanding Design. Multi-disciplinary firm: Miller Legg’s staff members routinely work together on a broad spectrum of projects, and typically on concurrent assignments. A fundamental benefit of our in-house multi-disciplinary environment is that it allows each department to gain first-hand knowledge of the important technical contribution of each other service area in successful project execution. We understand the importance of incorporating both the natural environment and engineered systems to maintain resources from the building level out to the broader landscape level. Our landscape architects enhance the natural setting by creating improved areas that mesh with instead of standing apart from the environment. Our environmental biologists work closely with our engineers and planes throughout project design to ensure critical site elements are preserved, while also identifying potential opportunities to showcase the natural environment. Arborist Services: Miller Legg has found that more and more clients are seeking arborist services in their project scopes.
