In addition, <br />Miller Legg provided construction <br />observation services. In addition, we <br />also provided grant assistance to secure <br />a Florida Recreational Development <br />Assistant Program (FRDAP) grant for <br />$200,000. FRDAP is a competitive grant <br />program that provides financial <br />assistance to local governments for <br />development or acquisition of land for <br />public outdoor recreational purposes. <br />Award: Award of Merit, American Society of <br />Landscape Architects, Florida Chapter, 2009 <br /> <br />City of Miami Buena Vista Heights <br />Landscape – Miller Legg prepared <br />landscape architecture design plans for <br />the City of Miami Buena Vista Heights <br />neighborhood. The neighborhood <br />roadway improvements project area <br />included tree removal/mitigation and <br />landscape design. Miller Legg was a <br />subconsultant to RJ Behar and Company. <br /> <br />City of Miramar Miramar Parkway <br />Redevelopment - This redevelopment <br />and streetscape project included a two- <br />mile, two-block urban section of the <br />Miramar Parkway corridor adjacent to <br />SR 7/US 441. Miller Legg designed the <br />landscape and irrigation improvements <br />for Florida Department of <br />Transportation (FDOT) along this <br />corridor north and south of Miramar <br />Parkway. In addition, certified arborist <br />services were provided for a tree <br />inventory and quality evaluation. The <br />proposed streetscape improvements <br />included enhancement of the pedestrian <br />corridor to encourage safe pedestrian <br />traffic for adjacent commercial and office <br />uses. The design also called for <br />consolidated parking areas rather than <br />replacing backout parking in front of <br />businesses for the safety of both the <br />pedestrian and automobile traffic and to <br />improve the street operation and the <br />aesthetics of the streetscape. <br /> <br />City of Pembroke Pines D/B Taft <br />Street Improvements - Miller Legg <br />was on the RJ Behar team for this Taft <br />Street Design Build project for the City <br />of Pembroke Pines. The firm's scope of <br />services was landscape architectural <br />design and post design services and <br />included the development of design and <br />contract documents including plans and <br />specifications. Support during the <br />construction phase with Requests for <br />Information and contractor submittals <br />was also provided. <br /> <br />City of Pembroke Pines <br />Streetscape Design Guidelines - <br />Miller Legg worked on the City of <br />Pembroke Pines City Wide Streetscape <br />Master Plan which included the creation <br />of context sensitive design guidelines for <br />the roadway corridors throughout the <br />City including accommodations for <br />mobility. This Master Plan looked at both <br />the corridor segment and intersection <br />component. Corridor segment <br />components included: median plantings, <br />‘Side of Road’ (along the right-of-way or <br />street edge) plantings, street trees and <br />specialty plantings. Intersection segment <br />components included: Median nose <br />treatments, crosswalks, expanded <br />pedestrian plazas at the corners, <br />specialty items and icons.
