Surveying <br />services included topographic and as- <br />built surveys. <br />Coral Springs Sportsplex - A 25 -acre <br />recreadonal park expansion project <br />requiring boundary and topographic <br />surveying and mitigation design and <br />jurisdictional wedand determinations. <br />Wedand Rapid Assessment Procedure <br />(WRAP) and Wedand Benefit Index (WBI) <br />assessments, and permitting with the US <br />Army Corps of Engineers, South Florida <br />Water Management District, and Broward <br />County. <br />Linear Park at Weston Town Center <br />- This 30 -acre mixed -use project included <br />retail, office, residential and future <br />governmental services. Other key <br />elements for Weston Town Center <br />include a winding 1.5 -mile lakefront linear <br />park with band shell and an interactive <br />fountain. The design process for this <br />project included the preparation of Master <br />Design Guidelines for the entire project <br />and all the varied uses. In addition, this <br />pedestrian-oriented "soul' of the City of <br />Weston included a highly central retail area <br />with themed landscaping, specialty paving <br />design, site furniture, and irrigation. Award: <br />Broward Beautiful Second Place for Large <br />Commercial Establishment Broward County, <br />1004 <br />City of Miramar Forzano Park <br />Improvements Phase I - The City of <br />Miramar plans to improve an existing 13- <br />acre active park to convert sport usage <br />and to improve operating conditions. <br />The existing baseball clay infields, outfield <br />and football field grass will be removed <br />and modified to provide additional <br />football /soccer field space. Park <br />amenities also include volleyball courts <br />and a community center. As a <br />subconsultant co R.J. Behar, Miller Legg <br />will provide planning, landscape <br />architecture, irrigation design and <br />topographic survey. <br />City of Miramar River Run Park <br />Improvements - The City of Miramar <br />plans to improve this 8- <br />acre neighborhood park, to include <br />additional parking, trail and pavilion <br />improvements and other miscellaneous <br />amenities. Partial funding for the trail <br />improvements include grant funding <br />obtained in part from a Florida <br />Department of Environmental <br />Protection, Recreational Trails Program <br />Grant. As a subconsultant to R.J. Behar & <br />Associates. Miller Legg provided a fast <br />track schedule, survey for the grant <br />submittal. In addition, additional survey <br />services, planning, and landscape <br />architecture will be provided for the <br />improvement to the River Run Park. <br />C -I I Canal Trail - This 1.5 mile project <br />consists of a pedestrian trail and an <br />equestrian trail that run within the South <br />Florida Water Management Districts <br />( SFWMD) right -of -way for the C -I I Canal. <br />The trail system links the City of Weston <br />to the existing extensive trail system within <br />the adjacent Town of Davie. Extensive <br />negotiations and coordination between the <br />City and SFWMD were required to <br />facilitate the design and use of this public <br />green space. This linear park serves as a <br />transition between Weston's residential <br />communities and the Griffin Road <br />corridor. Key design elements of this trails <br />project included the development of <br />overstory canopy, right -of -way drainage, <br />and segregated use areas for pedestrian <br />and equestrian users. Services provided <br />included landscape architecture. planning <br />engineering and permit coordination. <br />City of Oakland Park Parks & <br />Recreation Master Plan - Miller Legg <br />was the City's Planning and Design <br />consultant responsible for preparing a <br />20 -year Master Plan for its city-wide <br />Recreation Programs and Parks. This <br />City of 44.000 residents has a system of <br />24 -parks and recreation facilities with a <br />staff of 45 responsible for maintenance <br />and management Miller Legg prepared a <br />Master Plan with an implementation <br />approach which will rake the City to the <br />year 2030 in updates to the recreation <br />element of the comprehensive plan and <br />physical development of many new parks <br />while systematically updating the existing <br />inventory. This project approach <br />included development of an inventory of <br />existing facilities and resources, creation <br />of a customized web site for <br />Michael <br />communication with the public, <br />inventorying existing residents and <br />community stakeholders, development of <br />physical plans, and establishment of <br />budgets and schedules for <br />implementation over a 5 -10 -20 year time <br />frame. The entire project required six <br />workshops, interviews with all public <br />officials and current City Commissioners <br />in order to establish support for <br />adoption of the plan within a 12 month <br />time frame. <br />Long Key Natural Area/Habitat <br />Restoration Project - The Long Key <br />project is a wedand mitigation project that <br />was developed in cooperation with the <br />Broward County Parks and Recreation <br />Division, to be consistent with the <br />resource management goals for the Long <br />Key Natural Area (formerly known as the <br />Flamingo Road Environmentally - Sensitive <br />Lands (ESL)/ Kapok Tree). The total on- <br />site mitigation is approximately 30 acres, <br />encompassing marsh creation, marsh <br />enhancement, upland buffer creadon and <br />upland buffer enhancement This mitigation <br />was required by the US Army Corps of <br />Engineers, Broward County, and the South <br />Florida Water Management District The <br />project supports a wide variety of wetland <br />dependent avian species. Planted and <br />recruited native plant species provide <br />habitat for a variety of faunal species, <br />including a number of state and federally <br />listed species. Awards. This area <br />serves as a Consolidated Off -Site <br />Mitigation Area to compensate for future <br />impacts to all remaining wetlands present <br />within undeveloped parcels in Plantation <br />Acres. <br />
