u
l J
11
submerged lands through FDEPs Board
of Trustees Internal Improvement Trust
Fund (TIITF) and processed local
variances. In addition. Miller Legg
prepared a topographic survey at a grid
sufficient to create I foot contours in
the project area of the South Fork of the
New River. The limits of vegetation
along the south edge of subject area
were identified, located and shown. The
"Safe Upland Line" elevation for subject
area was researched and shown on the
survey drawing. Features bordering the
north edge of water in subject area were
identified and shown on the survey.
City of Pembroke Pines Wetlands
Park - A 100 -acre municipal passive
park containing an interpretive exhibit
center, 3,000 LF of boardwalk and nature
trails, and canoe trails in Pembroke
Pines. Services provided included: land
surveys, as -built surveys, topographic
surveys, master planning, site planning
and engineering, mitigation design and
consulting, and construction
management and observation.
Plantation Parks Wetlands Project
- This project was to create two wetland
mitigation areas within the community of
Plantation Acres. These areas combined
serve as a consolidated off -site mitigation
area to compensate for future impacts to
all remaining wetlands present within
approximately 28 undeveloped parcels in
Plantation Acres. The two subject sites
are the 45 -acre Volunteer Park site
located at the southwest corner of
Sunrise Boulevard and NW 1 I Sth
Avenue, and the 28 -acre Broward
County School Board site located at the
northeast corner of NW 121st Avenue
and NW 1 12th Sweet Environmental
services provided included: mapping of
jurisdictional wetlands within the
mitigation site and approximately 28
impact sites, functional evaluations,
mitigation calculations, design of
consolidated mitigation area, permitting
of wetland impacts and consolidated
mitigation area through Department of
Planning and Environmental Protection
(DPEP) and US Army Corps of Engineers
(USACOE), and development of credit
distribution mechanism for the City of
Plantation.
Pembroke Pines City Center - This
project consisted of approximately 100
acre mixed use project that was the last
phase of a 200 acre coral development
that also included multi - family and
commercial land use components in
Pembroke Pines. The City Center
project consisted of design for a
commercial and town center concept
with adjacent multi- family residential
components. Unique site design
components included incorporation of a
city park, linear 200' wide FP &L
easement that split the property, an
adjacent fuel pipeline easement, as well
as extensive accommodation for
stormwater management systems and
wetlands mitigation areas. Services
included environmental resource
permitting, mitigation design, mitigation
construction, maintenance observation,
remedial plan development mitigation
monitoring and surveying.
Monterra Greenway and Bike Path
- Designed the greenway /park with a one
mile bike trail within the 27 acres of the
FPL easement that bisects the Monterra
(Waldrep) property as part of the
Broward County Greenway System.
Routed the recreational wail /bike trail,
lay -out of fitness stations, tot -lots, shade
structures and multi-use courts, parking
and access to the trail, security fencing
and access gates and landscaping.
Planting and irrigation plans, along with
miscellaneous hardscape design, were
provided. The greenway and bike path
connected to each of the residential and
commercial phases of the Monterra
development.
Osprey Point Golf Course (South
County Regional Park) - Palm Beach
County Parks and Recreation contracted
Miller Legg to develop a presentation to
aid in the procurement of a water use
permit from SFWMD in order to
operate a 27 -hole golf course. Miller
Legg pursued Audubon Certification for
the golf course and it has been officially
designated a Certified Audubon
International Classic Sanctuary, the first
in Florida, second in the United States
and fifth in the world. Miller Legg aided
in identifying ways for the site to use less
water. Miller Legg revised the golf
course plans to apply low- impact
development techniques for stormwater
management, including bioswales and
infiltration trenches. Miller Legg also
worked with the County to enhance the
overall landscape design and create
natural corridors for wildlife.
City of Plantation Volunteer Park
Wetland Regional Off -Site
Mitigation Area - The purpose of this
project was to restore and create
wetland mitigation areas within a City
park within a 1,000 -acre community
known as Plantation Acres, located in
Plantation. This mitigation area serves as
a Consolidated Off -Site Mitigation Area
to compensate for future impacts to all
remaining wetlands present within
undeveloped parcels in Plantation Acres.
Miller Legg performs bi- annual
monitoring of the wetland preserve area
to ensure continued compliance.
St. Lucie County River Park Marina
- For this St Lucie County River Park
Marina located in Port St. Lucie, Miller
Legg provided mitigation monitoring
services at the preserve area along the
North Fork of the SL Lucie River for a
period of five years. Mitigation
monitoring is a permitting requirement
of the FDEP and USACE and includes
specific task requirements such as
quarterly monitoring reports for one
year and semi - annually for years two to
five. In addition to the monitoring, our
biologists provided vegetation clearing
oversight for removal of exotics. The
project also included 0.32 acres of
shoreline rip rap protection, fishing
platform, and fixed and Boating dock
components. Approximately five acres
of mixed hardwood wetlands were
placed under a conservation easement
and the shoreline was planted with
native vegetation such as mangroves and
leacher fern. Nuisance and exotic
species also were removed as part of the
project improvements.
Boynton Beach Oceanfront Park
Boardwalk - Miller Legg was the prime
consultant for the replacement of
existing boardwalk and minor structures
at Oceanfront Boardwalk Park in
Boynton Beach. The goal of the City
was to renovate their only beach access
park. Other elements of this
improvement project included
hardscape, lighting and landscape.
