Extensive experience includes
foundation inspections (shallow and deep foundations), soil modification (dynamic
compaction, stone columns), preloading, excavations, backfilling, and post construction
monitoring. Authored and Co-authored papers published in national and international
publications. Mr. Vedula also has GIs experience using ARC /INFO. Created a GIs
database for assessment of seismic vulnerability of Shelby County, Tennessee, as part of
research project funded by USGS.
KEY PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Town Center Park - Skate Park and Pavilion, Sunny Isles, FL Performed a geotechnical
engineering study for the new outdoor skate park facility with concrete ramps, slabs,
stairs, and retaining walls. Improvements to the park also included a pavilion /restroom
structure. Field work included Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings. Provided
geotechnical recommendations to address organics layers encountered. Provided
discussion of options which included surcharge, geosynthetic, soil mixing, mat
foundation, and pin piles.
New Bridge on NW 87th Avenue over Miami Canal, Miami -Dade County, FL Performed
geotechnical study and provided shallow and deep foundation recommendations for a
new bridge over Miami Canal.
Port of Miami — Parking Garages D & E, Miami -Dade County, FL Performed a
geotechnical engineering study for the design of two six -story parking garages located
within the Port of Miami facility. Field work included drilling twelve (12) Standard
Penetration Test (SPT) borings to a depth of 80 to 100 feet below the surface. Provided
geotechnical recommendations regarding foundation soil preparation requirements,
foundation types, depths, allowable bearing capacities, an estimate of potential
settlement, and comments regarding factors that may impact construction. TSF also
provided construction material testing and threshold inspection Services for the
construction of Parking Garage D, a four -story parking garage (designed for future 6
stories).
Aventura Arts and Cultural Center, Aventura, FL - Performed a geotechnical
engineering study for the 2 -story Aventura Arts and Cultural Center (14,864SF). The
purpose of this study was to explore the subsurface conditions at the site to enable an
evaluation of acceptable foundation systems for the proposed construction. Field work
included 5 Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings Provided a geotechnical engineering
report detailing subsurface and groundwater conditions at the site. Provided foundation
recommendations for both shallow and deep foundation alternatives so that depending
on the structural loads, a comparative analysis could be made and the most cost -
effective foundation could be utilized.
SR -997 ( Krome Avenue) from SR -94 /Kendall Drive to SR -90 /SW 8 Street, Miami -Dade
County, FL Performed a preliminary roadway soil survey for Krome Avenue in Miami
(approximately 5 miles). The purpose of this study was to provide geotechnical input to
the design team to assist in evaluation of the merits of the roadway improvements,
Geotechnical recommendations included the discussion of various options such as
surcharge, reinforced soil platform, geosynthetic, demucking and soil mixing. Also
provided geotechnical recommendations involving permanent cut /fill slopes,
excavations, groundwater control, pavement design, and on site soil suitability.
Cordova Rodriguez & Assoc., Inc.
