BID TITLE: BID 19 -17 -12 -HR BID NUMBER: ROOFING MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS <br />SECTION 07512 — BUILT-UP ROOFING SINGLE MEMBRANE AND <br />MISCELLANEOUS ROOF REPAIR <br />(Continued) <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 GENERAL INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Installer must examine condition of substrates to receive BUR or single membrane <br />systems, and conditions under which work will be performed, and notify the <br />CONTRACTOR and CITY representative in writing of unsatisfactory conditions <br />including inadequate provisions in substrate for bonding or anchorage of BUR <br />system. Do not proceed with BUR system work until unsatisfactory conditions <br />have been corrected in a manner acceptable to the installer. <br />B. Protect other work from spillage of materials, and prevent liquid materials from <br />entering or clogging drains and conductors. Replace/restore other work damaged <br />by performance of the work. <br />C. BITUMEN HEATING: <br />Do not raise temperature above minimum normal fluid -holding temperature more <br />than one hour prior to time of application; discard bitumen held at elevated <br />temperature for period exceeding 3 hours. Do not heat bitumen above temperature <br />required to ensure application viscosity resulting in adequate mopping weight and <br />maximum penetration, coverage and adhesion of felt plies, and maximum adhesion <br />to substrate. Determine flash point of bitumen and determine maximum fire -safe <br />handling temperature, and not exceed that temperature in heating bitumen. <br />3.02 SPECIFICATION <br />A. Roofing shall be compatible and equal to existing roofing material. <br />3.03 SUBSTRATE PREPARATIONS <br />A. Decks shall be dry smooth, swept free of all dust, dirt, grime, debris, and kept clean <br />of foreign materials and obstructions other than roofer's tools and equipment. <br />Where applicable, gravel shall be removed and surface "spudded" prior to <br />completing repair. <br />3.04 CANTS <br />A. At the intersection of all roof and vertical surfaces to be flashed, cants shall be <br />installed per the membrane manufacturer's requirements. <br />3.05 CLEANING <br />A. All trash, debris, equipment, and parts, shall be removed from the job site. <br />B. All damage and stains caused by work is this section shall be repaired or <br />removed. <br />3.06 PROTECTION <br />A. Finished roof shall be protected against roof traffic and construction damage. <br />B. The installer of BUR system shall advise the CONTRACTOR (in writing) of <br />recommended surveillance and protection during remainder of construction period, <br />so that BUR system will be without damage or deterioration, other than natural <br />weathering, at time of substantial completion of project. <br />Revised 6/27/18 Page 19 <br />
