THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 024119 Selective Demolition-1 <br /> <br />SECTION 024119 <br />SELECTIVE DEMOLITION <br /> <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 SUMMARY <br /> <br />A. Section includes administrative and procedural requirements for removing selective <br />portions of the building to accommodate new construction. <br /> <br />1. Remodeling construction work and patching are included within the respective <br />sections of specifications, including removal of materials for reuse and <br />incorporation into remodeling or new construction. <br /> <br />2. Relocation of pipes, conduits, ducts, and other mechanical and electrical work is <br />specified in Divisions 15 and 16. <br /> <br />1.2 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> <br />A. Demolition Firm Qualifications: An experienced firm that has specialized in demolition work <br />similar in material and extent, to that indicated for this Project. <br /> <br />B. Refrigerant Recovery Technician Qualifications: Certified by an EPA-approved certification <br />program. <br /> <br />C. Regulatory Requirements: Comply with governing EPA notification regulations before <br />beginning selective demolition. Comply with hauling and disposal regulations of authorities <br />having jurisdiction. <br /> <br />D. Standards: Comply with ANSI A10.6 and NFPA 241. <br /> <br />1.3 PROJECT CONDITIONS <br /> <br />A. Owner will occupy portions of building immediately adjacent to selective demolition area. <br />Conduct selective demolition so Owner's operations will not be disrupted. <br /> <br />B. Conditions existing at time of inspection for bidding purpose will be maintained by Owner <br />as far as practical. <br /> <br />1. Owner assumes no responsibility for actual condition of items or structures to be <br />demolished. <br /> <br />C. Hazardous Materials: It is not expected that hazardous materials will be encountered in <br />the Work. <br /> <br />1. If materials suspected of containing hazardous materials are encountered, do not <br />disturb; immediately notify Architect and Owner. Owner will remove hazardous <br />materials under a separate contract. <br />
