Lap fabric minimum 8 inch on sides and ends. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />H. Dowels: <br /> <br />1. Install at right angle to joint being doweled. <br /> <br />2. Accurately align dowels parallel to finished concrete surface. <br /> <br />3. Rigidly support during concrete placement using dowel baskets. <br /> <br />4. Coat one end of dowel with bond breaker. <br /> <br />I. Lapped Bars: Place in contact and tie securely, or space transversely apart to <br />embed entire surface of bar into concrete. Do not space lapped bars more than <br /> 1 / 5t h required length of lap and no more than 6 inches apart. <br /> <br />J. Splices: Conform to ACI 318 as modified by IBC Chapter 19 and Structural Drawings <br /> <br />1. Lap Splices: Do not lap splice reinforcing bars larger than No. 11, except as <br />otherwise accepted by Engineer. <br /> <br />2. Mechanical Splices: Conform to manufacturer instructions and ICC <br />Evaluation Services Report. <br /> <br />K. Vapor Barrier: Do not puncture or displace. Do not use grade stakes or other <br />accessories that may puncture vapor barrier. <br /> <br />L. Wet setting of reinforcing bars shall not be permitted. <br /> <br />3.3 FORMED OPENINS: Place reinforcing to accommodate openings and penetrations. <br /> <br />A. Soil at Footings: Maintain firm and compacted during placement of reinforcing <br />steel. <br /> <br />B. Do not drive nails in forms for supporting steel. <br /> <br />C. Stubs and Other Projecting Bars: Place and secure before pouring. <br /> <br />D. Field Bending Reinforcing Steel: Not permitted, except as accepted by Engineer. <br /> <br />E. Torch Cutting: Do not use gas cutting torches in field for correcting fabrication <br />errors in reinforcing steel, except as accepted by Engineer. <br /> <br />F. Reinforcing Conflict with Other Construction: Notify Engineer prior to placing <br />concrete. Includes in conflict with conduit, piping, inserts, and sleeves. <br /> <br />G. Field Welding of Reinforcement: Not permitted, except as indicated by Structural <br />Notes and Drawings, or approved. No welding at bend in bar or at cross bars.
