Absorptive Cover: Burlap cloth made from jute or kenaf, weighing approximately nine (9) <br />ounces per square yard, complying with AASHTO Designation M182, Class 2. <br /> <br />B. Moisture-Retaining Cover: One of the following, complying with ASTM Designation C171. <br /> <br />1. Waterproof paper. <br /> <br />2. Polyethylene film. <br /> <br />3. White burlap-polyethylene sheet. <br /> <br />C. Other controls shall be as approved by the Engineer. <br /> <br />3.4 CONCRETE MIX <br /> <br />A. The Contractor shall comply with the FDOT’s Standard Specifications for Highways and <br />Bridges following design mixes as indicated on the Contract Drawings. <br /> <br />1. Minimum 3000 psi, air-entrained, for covered underground concrete. <br /> <br />2. Minimum 4000 psi, air-entrained, for exposed concrete surface work. <br /> <br />B. The Contractor shall add air-entraining admixture at the Manufacturer's prescribed rate to <br />result in concrete at point of placement having an air content as follows with a tolerance of plus <br />or minus 1½ percent: <br /> <br />1. Air Content: 5.5 percent for 1½-inch maximum aggregate. <br /> <br />2. Air Content: 6.0 percent for 1-inch maximum aggregate. <br /> <br />3. Air Content: 6.0 percent for 3/4-inch maximum aggregate. <br /> <br />4. Air Content: 7.0 percent for 1/2-inch maximum aggregate. <br /> <br />C. Adjustment to Concrete Mixes: Mix design adjustments may be requested by the Contractor <br />when the characteristics of materials, project conditions, weather, test results or other <br />circumstances warrant. <br /> <br />3.5 CONCRETE MIXING <br /> <br />A. Ready-Mixed Concrete: the Contractor shall comply with the requirements and with ASTM <br />Designation C94. When the air temperature is between 85 °F and 90 °F, the Contractor shall <br />reduce the mixing and delivery time from 1.5 hours to 75 minutes. When the air temperature <br />is above 90 °F, the Contractor shall reduce the mixing and delivery time to 60 minutes. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
