THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 042200 Concrete Unit Masonry-4 <br />B. Place masonry joint reinforcement in first and second horizontal joints above and below <br />openings. Extend at least 16 inches on each side of opening. <br />C. Place joint reinforcement continuous in first and second joint below top of walls. <br />D. Lap joint reinforcement ends at least 6 inches (150 mm). Extend at least 16 inches (400 <br />mm) on each side of opening. <br />E. Reinforce joint corners and intersections with strap anchors 16 inches (400 mm) on center. <br /> <br />3.5 REINFORCING STEEL <br /> <br />A. Place reinforcement in accordance with ACI 315. <br />B. Locate reinforcing splices at points of minimum stress. Splice locations shall be as shown on <br />the Shop Drawings unless alternative locations of splices are approved by the Engineer-of- <br />Record. <br />C. Where welding is approved by the University, weld reinforcement in accordance with AWS <br />D12.1. <br />D. Place reinforcing bars supported and secured against displacement. Maintain position within <br />1/2-inch (13 mm) of true dimension. <br />E. Verify that reinforcement is clean, free of scale, dirt, or other foreign coatings that would <br />reduce bond to grout. <br /> <br />3.6 TOLERANCES <br /> <br />A. Alignment of Pilasters: Maximum 1/4-inch (7 mm) from true line. <br /> <br />B. Variation from Unit to Adjacent Unit: 1/32-inch (1 mm) maximum. <br /> <br />C. Variation from Plane of Wall: 1/4-inch (7mm) in 10 feet and 1/2-inch (13 mm) in 20 feet (6 <br />m) or more. <br /> <br />D. Variation from Plumb: 1/4-inch (7mm) per story noncumulative; 1/2-inch (13 mm) in two <br />stories or more. <br /> <br />E. Variation from Level Coursing: 1/8-inch (3 mm) in 3 feet; 1/4-inch (7 mm) in 10 feet (3 m); <br />1/2-inch (13mm) maximum. <br /> <br />F. Variation of Joint Thickness: 1/8-inch (3 mm) in 3 feet. <br /> <br />G. Maximum Variation from Cross Sectional Thickness of Walls: +/- 1/4-inch (7 mm). <br /> <br />3.7 MASONRY FLASHINGS <br />A.
