THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 084413 Glazed Aluminum Curtain Walls-6 <br />A. Comply with NAAMM=s Metal Finishes for Architectural and Metal Products for <br />recommendations relative to applying and designating finishes. <br /> <br />B. Fluoropolymer Coating System: Containing not less than 70 percent polyvinylidene fluoride <br />resin by weight; complying with AAMA 605.2. <br /> <br />C. Finish: Custom Kynar 500, color to be selected from full range of all colors available. <br />Coordinate color to match other aluminum finishes. Submit samples for approval. <br /> <br />2.4 PROTECTION OF ALUMINUM <br /> <br />A. Where dissimilar metals contact and where aluminum contacts masonry, concrete, plaster <br />or mortar, provide isolation coating of alkyd zinc chromate paint or coating of self-adhering <br />vinyl tape. <br /> <br />2.5 FABRICATION <br /> <br />A. General: Fabricate glazed aluminum curtain wall system according to reviewed shop <br />drawings. Fabricate components that, when assembled, shall have accurately fitted joints <br />with ends coped or mitered to produce hairline joints free of burrs and distortion. <br />B. Fabrication of Curtain Wall: In accordance with manufacturer=s shop drawings as approved <br />by governing agency having jurisdiction. <br /> <br />C. Fabricate break metal components, aluminum trim, and flashing in accordance with final <br />shop drawings. <br /> <br />D. Major framing members shall be fabricated, assembled, and sealed in factory to allow job <br />site erection. <br /> <br />E. Design spandrel horizontal to include a gutter to collect moisture and drain (weep) it to the <br />exterior. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.1 EXAMINATION OF SUBSURFACES <br /> <br />A. Examine structure receiving curtain wall framing systems before installing any work. If any <br />subsurface is not suitable to receive curtain wall system, correct subsurface before <br />proceeding with installation. Installation of curtain wall or window systems shall constitute <br />acceptance of subsurface materials conditions. <br /> <br />3.2 INSTALLATION <br /> <br />A. General: Erect and secure components together and to structure in a leveled, plumbed, <br />secured, and water-proofed manner in accordance with reviewed shop and erection <br />drawings, manufacturer=s installation directions and applicable codes. Curtain wall system <br />shall be installed by manufacturer or its approved applicator. <br /> <br />B. Shims: Set frames in prepared openings; plumb, level and shim into position with aluminum <br />shims. Provide aluminum or galvanized steel shims as required for concealed steel anchors
