ENROLLED <br />2025 Legislature <br />SB 2-C <br />20252Cer <br />726 federal agencies having authority over immigration enforcement. <br />727 (g) No later than March 24, 2025, report to the President <br />728 of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives <br />729 the number of vacant beds available in state correctional <br />730 institutions and facilities and county detention facilities <br />731 which can be sublet to the United States Immigration and Customs <br />732 Enforcement for use as detention beds. Operators of state <br />733 correctional institutions and facilities and county detention <br />734 facilities shall provide such information requested by the board <br />735 no later than March 15, 2025. <br />736 (4) The State Board of Immigration Enforcement may adopt <br />737 rules necessary to implement this section. <br />738 (5) The Department of Law Enforcement must provide <br />739 administrative support to the State Board of Immigration <br />740 Enforcement. <br />741 Section 17. Section 908.1032, Florida Statutes, is created <br />742 to read: <br />743 908.1032 State Immigration Enforcement Council.—The State <br />744 Immigration Enforcement Council, an advisory council as defined <br />745 in s. 20.03, is created within the State Board of Immigration <br />746 Enforcement for the purpose of advising the board. <br />747 (1) The council must be composed of eight members. The <br />748 Governor, Attorney General, Chief Financial Officer, and <br />749 Commissioner of Agriculture each must appoint one police chief. <br />750 The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of <br />751 Representatives must each appoint two sheriffs. The State Board <br />752 of Immigration Enforcement must unanimously elect a sheriff from <br />753 among the council's membership to serve as chair. <br />754 (2)(a) Members shall be appointed to terms of 4 years.
