For the purpose of providing <br />758 staggered terms, the initial appointments by the Cabinet shall <br />759 be for a term of 2 years. <br />760 (b) Membership on the council shall not disqualify a member <br />761 from holding any other public office or being employed by a <br />762 public entity, except that no member of the Legislature shall <br />763 serve on the council. The Legislature finds that the council <br />764 serves a state, county, and municipal purpose and that service <br />765 on the council is consistent with a member's principal service <br />766 in a public office or employment. <br />767 (c) Members of the council shall serve without compensation <br />768 but are entitled to reimbursement for per diem and travel <br />769 expenses pursuant to s. 112.061. <br />770 (3) The first meeting of the council shall be held no later <br />771 than April 1, 2025. Thereafter, the council must meet quarterly. <br />772 Additional meetings may be held at the discretion of the chair. <br />773 A majority of members of the council constitute a quorum. <br />774 Council meetings may be conducted by teleconference or other <br />775 electronic means. <br />776 (4) The council shall: <br />777 (a) Assist the State Board of Immigration Enforcement on <br />778 issues related to immigration enforcement, provided such <br />779 requests are made after unanimous approval of the board. <br />780 (b) Recommend to the board program participation expenses <br />781 related to 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, 8 <br />782 U.S.C. s. 1357, which should be reimbursable under the Local Law <br />783 Enforcement Immigration Grant Program established in s. 908.1033 <br />Page 27 of 51 <br />CODING: Wordsen are deletions; words underlined are additions. 260 <br />
