THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 02510-2 <br /> <br />2.04 FORMS: The CONTRACTOR shall furnish forms for the forming of the concrete curb in accordance with <br />the following: <br />A. The forms shall be wood or metal. <br />B. The forms shall be straight and strong enough to resist springing during placement of concrete. <br />C. The forms shall have sufficient bearing surface to prevent tipping. <br />D. The height of the forms shall be equal to full depth of section to be constructed. <br />E. Slip form. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 CONCRETE WALKS AND RAMPS: The CONTRACTOR shall construct concrete sidewalks and ramps as <br />specified in FDOT Specifications - Section 522 where shown on the Drawings. <br />3.02 CURBS AND GUTTERS: The CONTRACTOR shall construct concrete curbs and gutters as specified in <br />FDOT Specifications - Section 520 where shown on the Drawings. <br />3.03 MISCELLANEOUS CONCRETE SLABS: The CONTRACTOR shall construct miscellaneous concrete slabs for <br />mechanical equipment as indicated on the Drawings and as specified in FDOT Specifications Section 350. <br />3.04 PRE-CAST CONCRETE WHEEL STOPS: The CONTRACTOR shall install pre-cast concrete wheel stops by <br />anchoring them with at least two three -quarter inch round reinforcing bars driven a minimum of one foot <br />into the pavement. Use a setting tool to recess anchor rod a minimum of one -half inch below the top <br />surface and caulk the opening. Wheel stops damaged when driving rods shall be replaced with new <br />bumpers. <br />3.05 FORMS: The CONTRACTOR shall install the forms in accordance with the following: <br />A. Use flexible forms for all curved form lines except: <br />1. Curves having a radius of 200 feet or greater may be formed in 10 foot or shorter chords. <br />2. Curves having a radius of 100 feet or greater may be formed in 5 foot or shorter chords. <br />B. Thoroughly clean, oil, securely stake, brace, and hold forms to line and grade. <br />C. Remove forms from front face of curb section at the time necessary to permit finishing concrete. <br />Leave other forms in place not less than 12 hours after placement of concrete. <br />3.06 JOINTS: The CONTRACTOR shall install joints in the curbs as follows: <br />A. Contraction Joints: <br />1. Construct at locations indicated and as follows: <br />a. Division concrete curb into monolithic sections not greater than 10 inches in length. <br />2. Form contraction joints by any of the following methods: <br />a. Place one half inch thick steel separators after concrete has taken its initial set, but <br />before final finishing. <br />
