Page 4 of 22 unbroken visibility, their maneuvers must be directed by a signalman. ➢ All machines must be used in accordance with the recommendations of their respective manufactures. ➢ All machinery must be equipped with acoustic and visible (flashing beacon) reverse maneuvers warning devices. ➢ It is strictly prohibited to transport persons in or on the machines except in seats especially installed for such a purpose. ➢ Whenever heavy machinery is being moved, be it within the site or on the public highway, it must be transported using special vehicles, and these must be preceded by a pilot car fitted with flashing beacons and obey the maximum speed limits in both situations. ➢ All works machinery must bear an official seal of quality or have been approved by ANSI. ➢ A hardhat and reflective vest must be worn when moving around the site on foot. ➢ Being struck and/or trapped by a machine or the moving parts thereof. Maintenance and repair. ➢ Any operation carried out on a machine or works vehicle, be it to do with maintenance or a repair, must be carried out with the engine/motor turned off. ➢ All repair work done on the machines must be carried out by specialized personnel and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. ➢ Every effort must be made to avoid carrying out any maintenance or repair operation on a gradient. If this cannot be avoided, the wheels of the machine/vehicle must be chocked to prevent it from unintentionally rolling down the slope. ➢ It is strictly prohibited to use or operate any machine on terrain for which it was not designed. ➢ Fire and explosion. ➢ All works machinery must be refueled in accordance with the procedure of the authorized fuel distributer and transporter. ➢ All works machines and vehicles must be equipped with handheld fire extinguishers. ➢ Smoking or the use of mobile phones while refueling is strictly prohibited.
