Water Distribution/Water/Wastewater Treatment Plants
Doug is a principal engineer with over 37 years of experience in the planning, design,
permitting, and engineering services during the construction of water, wastewater,
and reclaimed water projects for various municipal and private clients. These
projects have included utility system master planning, water distribution systems,
sanitary sewer collection and transmission systems, sanitary pump stations,
vacuum sanitary collection/pumping systems, expansion/rehabilitation of water
treatment plants, expansion/rehabilitation wastewater treatment plants, industrial
wastewater pre-treatment systems, and reclaimed water treatment and distribution
systems. Representative projects include:
Okeechobee Utility Authority, FL, Pine Ridge Park Utility System
Improvements. Project manager to provide comprehensive engineering services
for the design, permitting, and bidding assistance for utility improvements for Pine
Ridge Park within OUA’s service area. The new utility services include a new water
main and a vacuum sewer collection system. Water main installation will include
over 5,300 feet of PVC and HDPE pipe, while the vacuum collection system includes
over 10,000 feet of vacuum main and approximately 40 vacuum pits to service
the residents within Pine Ridge Park. One new vacuum pump station is also being
designed as part of this project.
City of Coral Springs, FL, Rehabilitation of Lift Stations 14A, 15C, 17B, 19C, and
20C. Project manager for the design, permitting, and engineering services during
construction to rehabilitate and convert five of the City of Coral Springs’ wet pit/dry
pit suction lift stations. These lift stations were converted to submersible lift stations
and additional civil site improvements specific to each station were made. The
design phase proposed provision for a new deeper wet well, valve vault, electrical
and control panels, and associated mechanical and civil improvements required
to bring each of the lift stations up to the city’s standards for submersible lift
stations. Following the design and permitting of the lift station rehabilitations, CHA
provided engineering services during construction as the owner’s representative for
contract administration with limited on-site field inspections to review and observe
construction progress from project mobilization through closeout. Dates: 2017 -
2021.
Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority, FL, Stock Island Pump Stations Design-
Build Distribution and Back Pump Improvements. Project manager/engineer
for this pumping system improvements project at the existing Distribution Pump
Station and Back Pump Station. Improvements included a new 350 hp split-case
centrifugal pump and VFD, new diesel engine driven split case pump with remote
radiator, piping improvements, new flow meters, electrical/SCADA, architectural and
structural improvements, minor HVAC improvements, and civil/sitework.
City of Sunrise, FL, Sawgrass Wastewater Treatment Plant High Level
Disinfection Reuse Facility, Phase I. Project manager/engineer who provided
subconsultant engineering services for a 4.0 MGD High Level Disinfection (HLD)
Reuse Facility at the existing Sawgrass Wastewater Treatment Plant. The initial Phase
I scope included yard piping demolition, design of all new yard piping improvements,
design of filter influent and post contact basin pumping systems, precast concrete
chemical piping trench system and engineering services during construction.
