He has also performed traffic impact studies and designed traffic signals including interconnected signal systems for state, county, city, and private developments. He has also experience in designing roadway lighting. Representative project experience includes: Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, DHL Express, Traffic Study. Project engineer responsible for performing a traffic study for DHL Express at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. DHL was expanding its operations at the airport and was concerned about its impact on airport service roads and DHL’s site layout. Traffic counts were collected and observed truck, service, and employee traffic patterns were noted during DHL’s peak periods. Capacity analyses at adjacent intersections and driveways were performed as well as occupancy rates of DHL’s trailer parking/storage lots. Recommendations for intersection traffic control, auxiliary lanes, driveways, and the size of trailer storage lots were made and summarized in a report that was submitted to DHL. City of West Lafayette, IN, Village Parking Study. Project manager and engineer responsible for the analysis of the parking conditions and demand in the Chauncey Hill/Village area of West Lafayette. Parking needs were determined from data collected through patron and merchant surveys, as well as occupancy, duration, turnover rate, and capacity of existing parking facilities. The recommended improvements were phased for the short, intermediate, and long-term. Originally performed this study in 1993 but did a re-evaluation in 2005. In the 2005 study, additional peak time periods were investigated, and the limits of the study broadened. Surveys included merchants, students, faculty, staff, residents, and other college towns. A zoning ordinance analysis was performed. Purdue University, Fort Wayne, IN, Parking and Traffic Circulation Study. Project manager and engineer for this parking study to assess parking demands and characteristics for this regional, commuter campus. Traffic circulation was also investigated to identify potential capacity problems on the campus roadway network. Both the parking and traffic circulation studies involved extensive fieldwork including the interviewing of students and faculty members on their parking patterns and preferences. Recommendations were drafted for both parking facilities and the campus roadway network. City of Marion, IN, Washington Street Traffic Study. Project engineer responsible for preparing a traffic study to examine the conversion of Washington Street from one-way to two-way traffic. The project included traffic counts, capacity analysis, and consideration of parking and pedestrian issues. Indiana Department of Transportation, Statewide Safety Studies. Project engineer responsible for the quality control review of safety study reports for 14 locations on the Indiana Department of Transportation system identified as a “safety concern”. The project included field assessment, capacity/crash analysis, coordination with local jurisdictions including emergency responders, and development of a Study Report for each location containing recommended mitigation measures. The first round of studies was underway in 2017.
