As part of this project, <br />Cummins Cederberg conducted several surveys including mapping of the <br />benthic resources surrounding the borrow areas as part of development of the <br />Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) in 2019 by the USACE. <br />Separately in 2020, Cummins Cederberg biologists performed a pre-construction <br />survey on behalf of Village of Bal Harbour to document any changes to the habitats <br />prior to the planned construction. In 2021 and 2022, our team was contracted to <br />conduct the immediate pre-construction (growing season) and post-construction <br />surveys, including the pipeline corridors in accordance with the FDEP Joint Coastal <br />Permit and Biological Monitoring Plan to document and statistically evaluate <br />dredging-related impacts on marine resources in the project area. <br />The survey methods involved the assessment of the resources within quadrats <br />stationed along permanent transects in hardbottom and seagrass communities, <br />and mapping of the hardbottom edge and seagrass margin. All scientifi c diving <br />was conducted in compliance with 29 CFR 1910.410 and the American Academy <br />of Underwater Scientists (AAUS) criteria. Biologists conducting the survey were <br />experienced in identifying Caribbean hard corals, octocorals, sponges, submerged <br />aquatic vegetation, and identifying listed and/or invasive species. <br />Baker’s Haulover Inlet Benthic Survey <br />Bal Harbour Village, Florida
