<br />Tidal Flooding Mitigation and Shoreline Protection, City of Hollywood, Florida. Senior director managing the City of
<br />Hollywood project to mitigate tidal flooding across 22 City owned shoreline segments inclusive of parks, a marina,
<br />and right-of-way shorelines. Project team includes subconsultants providing survey, geotechnical engineering, civil
<br />engineering, landscape architecture, and public outreach. Cummins Cederberg conducted engineering assessments,
<br />seagrass surveys, mangrove surveys, tide measurements, LiDAR review and processing, upland and submerged land
<br />ownership research, inundation mapping, and developed design specifications. Conceptual designs were prepared
<br />and presented to various City Departments and the public for project input. A total of $14.1M in grant funding was
<br />secured to supplement the City’s GO Bond to fund design, permitting, and construction of all 22 project sites. Permit
<br />drawings are being prepared based on the conceptual designs and feedback from the City and Broward County, State,
<br />and USACE authorizations will be secured.
<br />Las Olas Marina Redevelopment and Expansion, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Managed environmental permitting and
<br />engineering design process for expansion of City owned marina through reclamation of previously filled tidal waters,
<br />renovation of the marina layout to accommodate megayacht vessels and increasing the slip count, and deepen the
<br />marina basin to include new dredging. Conducted the benthic survey in accordance with National Marine Fisheries
<br />Service guidelines for sampling Johnson’s seagrass. Secured environmental permits and extensions from Broward
<br />County, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and the US Army Corps of Engineers, as well as an
<br />expanded sovereign submerged lands lease and a private easement to authorize the expanded marina footprint and
<br />areas needed for navigational ingress and egress.
<br />La Coloma Marina, Miami, Florida. Senior Director managing marina repairs and maintenance dredging within an
<br />existing marina on the Miami River in the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserve. The repairs include backfilling two upland
<br />cut basins landward of the Aquatic Preserve, as well as replacing docks and pilings that are beyond their design life.
<br />The Project will incorporate the Miami Riverwalk along the shoreline and will relocate pilings that are currently located
<br />within the Miami River Federal Channel. A marine resource survey was conducted during the federally recognized
<br />seagrass growing season using a tethered underwater drone and the two Miami-Dade County Marina Operating Permits
<br />authorizing the east and west portions of the marina were combined to provide flexibility for mooring commercial
<br />vessels throughout the facility.
<br />Porta Vita, Aventura, Florida. Oversaw design and permitting of seawall replacement, docking facility repairs at multi-
<br />family residential development. Project required verification from numerous upland and submerged land owners,
<br />as well as after-the-fact permitting for existing, unauthorized structures. Permits obtained from Miami-Dade County
<br />DERM, FDEP, and USACE.
<br />Marine Stadium Mooring Field, Miami, Florida. As Project Manager, provided engineering and environmental
<br />consulting services in support of the City of Miami’s mooring field project in the historic Marine Stadium basin. Senior
<br />Project Manager responsible for conducting a marine resource assessment of the submerged lands around within the
<br />basin in the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Preserve in September 2023 to support future design and environmental resource
<br />permit applications.
<br />The Bay Park, Sarasota, Florida. The Bay is an environmental, resilient revitalization of 52 acre public waterfront
<br />park in downtown Sarasota. Senior director overseeing all aspects of project including biological assessments
<br />and monitoring, grant funding, and environmental permitting. Provided consulting support to project team towards
<br />modification of City zoning code to allow for public access dock. Managing annual benthic monitoring surveys including
<br />43 acres of submerged lands within Sarasota Bay offshore of Centennial Park and the Van Wezel Properties and
<br />mangrove assessments. Project is proceeding in phases including sunset pier (in permitting), ADA accessible kayak
<br />dock (completed), mangrove windowing and exotic vegetation removal (completed), dredging of mangrove bayou
<br />(completed), centennial canal dredging, shoreline stabilization and transient docks (in permitting), resilient shoreline
<br />design (in design), and Hog Creek restoration (in design). Permits are being processed in phases through the SWFWMD
<br />and USACE. Secured $11.6M in grant funding to date, with additional grant applications in process, to fund resilient
<br />project element, stormwater improvements, and public access structures.
