<br />Jon is a senior engineer with experience in planning, engineering analysis,
<br />structural design, construction administration, and above- and below-
<br />water inspection, for marine and waterfront projects. He holds a bachelor’s
<br />degree in civil engineering with a structural engineering concentration from
<br />Penn State University and a master’s degree in civil engineering from Johns
<br />Hopkins University. Jon has eight years of experience as a structural engineer
<br />in building and marine/waterfront projects. Jon has completed and assisted
<br />with marine structure projects in the United States, Bahamas and Turks &
<br />Caicos Islands, including marinas, ports, mooring dolphins, bulkheads,
<br />seawalls, docks and piers.
<br />RELEVANT PROJECT EXPERIENCE
<br />Porto Vita Condominium, Aventura, Florida. Performed above- and below-
<br />water inspection of 1,300 LF of existing concrete pile/panel seawall, 600
<br />LF of riprap supported shoreline, (8) floating metal docks, (9) fixed concrete
<br />docks, (2) fixed concrete marginal docks, (17) 7-pile timber dolphin clusters,
<br />and steel pipe piles throughout the marina. Marine engineering and structural
<br />design of 1,300 LF of replacement steel sheet pile concrete pile supported
<br />seawall, 300 square ft. of fixed concrete finger and marginal docks, (17) steel
<br />pipe fender piles, and repairs to the existing fixed floating docks.
<br />Citywide Strategic Seawall Capital Improvement Plan, St. Petersburg,
<br />Florida. Providing coastal and marine engineering services to assess and
<br />classify the condition of approximately 72,000 LF (13.6 miles) of municipal
<br />seawalls. This strategic seawall capital improvement plan addresses rising
<br />sea levels and increased severe storm events, aligns with the City’s vision
<br />for the seawalls by neighborhood and downtown waterfront district, and
<br />includes the development of a GIS database, a coastal design toolbox, and
<br />prioritization of repairs and/or replacements based on available funding.
<br />Conducted above and below-water inspections, documented the condition
<br />of each seawall in detail, and compiled a comprehensive report of findings,
<br />highlighting critical areas needing immediate attention and those requiring
<br />long-term maintenance.
<br />Fisher Island Ferry Terminals, Miami, Florida. Performed above and
<br />underwater inspection, condition assessment, and underwater probe scour
<br />analysis of existing steel sheet pile bulkhead and ferry berthing and fendering
<br />elements. Marine engineering and structural design for the replacement of
<br />two existing commuter ferry terminals on Fisher Island consisting of new
<br />steel sheet pile bulkheads, transfer ramp support structures, and berthing
<br />fenders. Value engineered all elements and worked with contractor to lower
<br />costs in extremely volatile construction materials market. Geo5, SPW911,
<br />and CWALSHT softwares were used for the bulkhead design. Allpile software
<br />was used for the design of fenders and ramp support structures. Deliverables
<br />to client included permit and construction drawing sets.
<br />Coronado Seawall and Marina, Highland Beach, Florida. Provided marine
<br />engineering and structural design for a 450 LF of steel sheet pile and concrete
<br />pile supported seawall and (9) fixed wood finger docks. Services performed
<br />above and below-water inspection, design, and construction administration
<br />services.
