Proven in Practice. <br />59 <br />MARIE GUYER, ENV SP <br />Marine Structural Engineer <br />and Historic Virginia Key Park, which resulted in structural write ups and photo logs of all existing structures including <br />cabanas, lifeguard stands, groins, and breakwaters. Cost estimates for the expected maintenance and construction <br />costs to mitigate for sea level rise were created along with proposed cross sections. Maps displaying the parks individual <br />assets and current remaining service lives were created. These items involved heavy coordination with the Cummins <br />Cederberg environmental and coastal team to be included within the sea level rise mitigation reports for each of the <br />parks. <br />Fisher Island Ferry Terminal Inspections, Miami, Florida. Performed above and below water inspections of for the <br />mainland terminal ferry and bulkheads. The ferries at Fisher Island run at a continuous schedule, which for resident <br />access cannot be interrupted and therefore the in-water inspection presented a challenge. The team worked in timed <br />shifts of about 5-10 minutes to inspect the structures by swimming in to occupy the terminal and then out as the ferry <br />would access. Marie also provided in-water support for the environment team to work through these conditions. <br />Fisher Island Club Resident’s Marina, Miami, Florida. Project engineer for the residential marina seawall repairs, <br />dredging, and coral relocation plans. Involves heavy coordination with the environmental permitting team as the <br />marina contains large quantities of coral which must be relocated to another part of Fisher Island. The construction <br />work is also phased to be active only during the summer months to allow for full use of the Marina during their busy <br />winter season, this involves coordination with the client and the contractors completing the work. <br />FDOT Coastal Management Asset Sea Level Rise, FDOT District 1. Project engineer involved with the planning and <br />design of road elevation concepts for flood mitigation. Due to the different geographic landscapes throughout District <br />1, several different prototypes were created to fit each of the unique environments found within District 1. <br />Bill Keith Preserve Park, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Completed a coastal engineering assessment of proposed <br />shoreline stabilization of a meandering seawall using MIKE21 modeling. The City of Fort Lauderdale wanted to prevent <br />shoreline erosion due to vessel traffic along the South Fork of the New River. The assessment evaluated the proposed <br />concept relative to the design efficacy and potential adverse impacts such as stagnant water and continuing erosion. <br />A hydrodynamic and dispersion model was created, and a report of the results provided to the City of Fort Lauderdale. <br />Cove at Loggerhead, St. Petersburg, Florida. Cummins Cederberg was engaged to provide marine engineering <br />consulting services and expert testimony in support of findings and/or professional opinions in relation to the bulkhead <br />at the property marina property. Marie completed independent calculations for the property bulkhead, reviewed the <br />historical documentation of the property and previous outside bulkhead designs, and participated in discussions with <br />the client on the findings. <br />Yacht Haven Marina, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Project engineer for the pool deck improvement project which Cummins <br />Cederberg engaged in after-the-fact when the construction had already started without a building permit. Marie <br />preformed calculations of the existing conditions and worked to create construction drawings set with the members <br />they had on site to reduce cost expenditures and project timeline. Marie is also the project engineer for the 4,000 <br />linear feet bulkhead replacement along the marina basin. The bulkhead design is still in the design phase and is <br />proposed to be using FRP sheets for a more attractive seawall appearance and lifespan. <br />West Lake Segment 4, Hollywood, Florida. Marie served as a project engineer for the proposed 9,000 linear foot of <br />rip-rap crib installation, along with intermittent segments of rock revetment, at West Lake Park Segment 4. As project <br />engineer Marie completed calculations for the timber crib shoreline protection system and assisted in the development <br />of the construction drawings. <br />Jungle Island Docking Facility, Miami Beach, Florida. Assisted with a marine resource survey for the installation of <br />two new docking facilities along a beach. The project included line-intercept sampling along transects and recording <br />seagrass and other resource’s locations with GPS accuracy using the Trimble. <br />Miamarina Island Queen, Miami, Florida. Performed the final closeout inspection of the dock replacement to issue <br />a letter of certification confirming the dock was built to design requirements. Also assisted with an in-season marine <br />resource survey required for the FDEP permit application prior to construction.
