Coordinated with regulatory agencies to avoid and minimize impacts to stony corals in the project footprint through construction methodologies. Miami-Dade County Beach Nourishment Hardbottom Verification Surveys, Miami, Florida. Project scientist responsible for conducting in-water hardbottom edge verifications to identify locations of and characterize sensitive marine habitats and emergent faunal communities offshore of 13 miles of Miami-Dade county beaches. Data collection included vertical edge relief and rugosity, characterization of dominant benthic floral and faunal communities, and substrate/sediment descriptions. Field verifications were performed to confirm the location of hardbottom communities identified by side-scan sonar surveys to support design planning relative to future beach nourishment events. Project scientist responsible for preparation and continued processing of permit applications and modification of an existing sovereign submerged lands lease in support of a shoreline improvements project. The project includes a seawall and dock replacement and installation of a new boatlift. Fisher Island Club Vanderbilt Marina Expansion, Fisher Island, Miami. Performed a marine resource survey to document seagrasses, corals, ESA-listed species, and hardbottom habitat to support design planning for the proposed Fisher Island Club Vanderbilt Marina Expansion Project. Survey area encompassed approximately 15 acres of seabed surrounding the existing marina, breakwaters, jetties, and docking facilities. Multiple field methodologies were employed, including nearshore in-situ resource edge delineations, coral counts, line intercept data collection, and upland vegetation surveys. Assisted in the analysis of field data and preparation of subsequent Environmental Survey Report Higgs Beach Biological Monitoring, Key West, Florida. Conducted the immediate post-construction, 1-year post- construction, and 2-year post-construction biological monitoring surveys in accordance with the FDEP approved Biological Monitoring Plan and additional monitoring requirements by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Data collected included: sediment depth measurements, sediment coverage documentation, video documentation of marine resources, and percent cover of benthic macroinvertebrate, and macroalgal communities along previously established shore perpendicular transects in and adjacent to the project area, and corals measuring greater than 10cm were tagged. Project involves conducting marine biological resource monitoring for the sand replenishment project at Higgs Beach, City of Key West. Led reporting and data analysis efforts and conducted multivariate statistical analyses (PRIMER software) to evaluate changes between the baseline and post-construction biological monitoring data Lake Worth Inlet Flood Shoal Dredging Project, Palm Beach County, Florida. Responsible for processing and analysis of pre-construction marine resource survey field data and report preparation in support of the Lake Worth Inlet Flood Shoal Dredging Project. Field data collected in adherence with Project-specific and permit-required Seagrass Mitigation and Monitoring Plan. Report documented the pre-construction seagrass conditions within the modeled sediment travel area and a portion of the mixing zone surrounding the dredge area.
