3. Staffing
Brock Petrak, EIT | Civil Engineer
Brock Petrak graduated with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from
Michigan Tech, where he prioritized classes which focused on structural and water
resources engineering. Brock completed a significant number of classes in the
school of business as well where he focused on public speaking, communication,
and management practices.
He joined Edgewater in 2022 and brought significant engineering consulting,
general surveying, and maritime experience to the firm. Before beginning with
Edgewater, Brock worked at Rice Engineering Inc. in Green Bay Wisconsin where
he performed structural analysis of exterior building components and structural
design consulting services.
During his college career, he spent summers in Maine where he worked for
5 seasons as a commercial lobster fisherman. He has worked on half a dozen
fishing vessels covering roughly 270 nautical square miles of the Northern Atlantic.
Brock has hands-on experience with residential construction projects and worked
under a general contractor for 4 years throughout high school.
Project Experience
The Landing at St. George Island | St. George Island, FL
The resort and marina on northern Florida’s Apalachicola Bay will transform
the historic ferry landing site for St. George Island into the premier waterfront
development in the region. The site is envisioned to be an expansive project
that includes a fully automated dry stack marina, wet-slip marina, retail center,
event space, beachfront hotel and restaurant, and other mixed-use components.
Brock researched and analyzed market data from the surrounding region to help
determine a strategy for the design of the conceptual master plan. He worked to
prepare the site master plan leading up to the permit applications and community
presentations. Brock serves as the point-of-contact and manager for the entire
project including the engineering, planning, and marketing of the development to
the public and governing agencies. The project will seek LEED certification for the
proposed construction methods and maintenance practices.
Palm Harbour Marina | Cape Haze, FL
The marina that once boasted 192 dry stack slips alongside 65 wet slips was
destroyed by Hurricane Ian in the fall of 2022. Brock led a team of engineers to
assess the damage caused by the storm and prepare engineering documentation
for the post-hurricane condition of the marina facilities. Following Edgewater’s
assessment, Brock began the redevelopment planning process. He worked with
the engineering team to design a conceptual master plan and construction cost
estimates for a new marina layout which could have up to three (3) electric-crane
drystack buildings and an optimized wet slip layout which would add 24 new boats
within the existing basin footprint. Following meetings with local agencies, Brock
was assigned to manage the pre-construction efforts for the property which have
included environmental permitting, land-use approvals and engineering design
of upland infrastructure.
Education
B.S Civil Engienering, 2021
Michigan Technological
University
Certifications
NCEES EITASCE Member
Other Projects
Cortez Village Marina
Bradenton, FL
Campbell Point Marina
Shell Knob, MO
Fish Tale Marina
Ft.
