Paul C. Jansen <br />Senior Project Manager <br />Paul Jansen specializes in leading design teams from the feasibility stage through design, <br />remediation, and closure for a variety of clients with a focus on refining, railroads, utilities, <br />and manufactured gas plant sites and has developed an expertise in-situ solidification <br />treatability, pilot testing, and implementation of ISS remedies and sediment-dredge-cap <br />remedies. Mr. Jansen joined GEI in 2011 and is responsible for overall project delivery <br />of remediation projects (quality, schedule and budget) and to provide technical design <br />leadership; contracting support; constructability reviews; third party reviews; project change <br />order negotiations; and conflict resolution for subcontracts and client contracts. <br />PROJECT EXPERIENCE <br />Hunts Point Site F In-Situ Solidification (ISS) Remedy, New York City Economic <br />Development Corporation, Bronx, NY (Current). Senior consultant and reviewer for <br />the design and implementation of 160,000 cubic yards of purifier waste and coal tar ISS, <br />cutoff wall, and landfill cover system estimated at approximately $35 M construction cost. <br />Challenges include work adjacent to the Bronx River and the nation’s largest food distribution <br />center. <br />Alexandria Former Manufactured Gas Plant, City of Alexandria, VA. Senior consultant for <br />a pre-design-investigation and design lead for a remedial dredge and reactive cap project on <br />the Potomac River located near active utilities in an urban setting. Worked with the City to <br />revise the conceptual site model of the outgoing consultant, revise the work plan that had <br />been accepted by the state, and navigate through multiple levels of internal client, regulator, <br />and stakeholder review. <br />Florida Avenue Former Manufactured Gas Plant, South Jersey Gas Company, Atlantic <br />City, NJ. Senior consultant and reviewer for in-situ solidification (ISS) treatability program, <br />ISS design, and engineering oversight for building demolition and 100,000 cubic yards coal <br />tar impacted site. <br />Beach Thorofare, South Jersey Gas, Atlantic City, NJ. Senior consultant and strategist <br />for the alternative analysis for in-situ solidification of sediments verse dredge options for an <br />approximate 75,000 cubic yards 25 feet deep manufactured gas plant impacted sediment <br />profile. Senior reviewer of associated treatability study. <br />New Bedford Former Manufactured Gas Plant, Eversource, New Bedford, MA. Senior <br />consultant/reviewer for in-situ solidification treatability and bucket mixing design of former <br />gas holders for an excavation, solidification, and cover remedy. The work was completed in <br />2017. <br />Boston Harbor Berth 10 Expansion, Massachusetts Port Authority, Boston, MA (2017- <br />2018). Senior consultant and environmental strategist for an integrated soil and sediment <br />impacted nonaqueous phase liquids in-situ solidification (ISS) and bulkhead design for a <br />new wharf extension and ISS of submerged sediment embayment and channel dredging of <br />impacted sediment required to deepen the berth. <br />Hunts Point Site D Alternatives Analysis and Area A Construction Support, New York <br />City Economic Development Corporation, Bronx, NY (Current). Senior consultant and <br />reviewer for treatability study, preliminary design concept and alternatives analysis and <br />costing for Site D purifier waste and coal tar impacted site. Bid support, senior construction <br />management and engineering support for Area A remediation work completed in 2018. <br />Washington Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Site Design and Construction Management, <br />FirstEnergy Corporation, Washington, NJ.
