a foundation evaluation of this pier’s 2000 foot perimeter <br />concrete apron and steel pile foundation. After documenting <br />that significant corrosion and poor conditions were present, <br />GEI designed alternatives for repairs; performed final design <br />with contract drawings and technical specifications. Work <br />consisted of substantial underwater construction to regain <br />pile structural capacity and under deck concrete repairs. <br />Mr. Titmuss was responsible for all client coordination and <br />development of the engineering effort from investigation <br />to construction documents as well as providing significant <br />support throughout the construction phase. Construction <br />Cost: $5.0 million. <br />Waterfront Park Bulkhead Rehabilitation, City of <br />Newburyport, MA: Project Manager, oversaw GEI’s <br />investigation, analysis and assessment of the 1,500 foot steel <br />bulkhead supporting the City’s Memorial Boardwalk. GEI <br />performed above and below water inspection to determine <br />the current life and develop alternatives for rehabilitation <br />to extend the life to 40+ years. The project included survey, <br />review of rehabilitation methods, design of repairs and <br />obtainment of regulatory approvals. The preferred option for <br />rehabilitation for most of the bulkhead is to install composite <br />sheet piles outshore of the existing bulkhead and infill <br />with concrete. Services provided included investigations, <br />obtainment of regulatory approvals, design and preparation <br />of construction documents and construction management. <br />Construction Cost: $8.0 million <br />Atlantic Salt Inc., Staten Island, NY: Responsible for <br />overseeing the investigation and design for the revitalization <br />of an existing marine terminal used for bulk handling of road <br />salt. This $10+ Million project called for approximately 1,000 <br />linear feet of steel sheet bulkhead and dredging of 60,000 <br />cubic yards of material. The project also included demolition <br />of 4 derelict industrial buildings along an additional 1200 <br />linear feet of waterfront. The bulkhead and tieback design <br />had to address construction for deep draft vessel berthing, <br />high loads of bulk salt storage alongside berth and impacts of <br />existing concrete foundations. Other major issues included the <br />severe erosion impacts of the channel from waves and wakes <br />and combination of upland and offshore disposal for dredge <br />material. <br />Rouses Point Shoreline Walk and Pier, Rouses Point, NY: As <br />Project Manager, Mr. Titmuss was responsible for the design <br />of approximately 450 linear feet of steel bulkhead, a concrete <br />pier structure and riprap shore protection on Lake Champlain. <br />Design had to include an assessment of ice loading on the <br />shoreline structures and the pier structure and bulkhead was <br />evaluated to resist ice loading. GEI provided construction <br />documents and construction phase support for this project. <br />Estimated construction cost was $600,000 <br />Town-wide Regulatory Applications for Dredging, Town of <br />Chatham, Chatham, MA: Prepare regulatory applications for <br />the maintenance dredging of the numerous Town channels <br />and harbors which undergo repetitive dredging to maintain <br />their depth. Effort included review and documentation of <br />current approval status of each site, updating of permit <br />plans, and development of a comprehensive application <br />for submission to regulatory agencies. Effort included the <br />preparation of Notice of Intent, USACE Section 404, WPC <br />Water Quality Certification and Chapter 91 Dredge Permit <br />Applications. Effort also included incorporating eel grass <br />survey data, Horseshoe Crab, Tern and Plover impacts and <br />mitigation measures. <br />Harwich Wychmere Town Dock, Commercial Pier and <br />Bulkhead Reconstruction, Harwich, MA: Project Manager, <br />oversaw all elements of the design for the reconstruction <br />of the Town’s commercial pier at Wychmere Harbor. <br />The reconstruction project for the replacement-in-kind <br />construction project called for the complete removal of the <br />existing pier and deteriorated bulkheads and the rebuild of <br />the facility essentially within the same footprint with the new <br />bulkhead being installed just outshore of the existing wall. <br />The new pier was constructed with timber pile foundation, <br />concrete pile caps and a concrete deck. The pier deck <br />height was raised to accommodate the higher tides and <br />reduce the times of overtopping during storm surges and <br />spring tides. Services included investigation of site, design <br />of reconstruction, preparation of construction documents, <br />assisting the Town in the bidding and award and providing <br />construction phase oversight. The project was completed July <br />2015 and in full operation. <br />Wild Harbor Bulkhead and Dredging, Falmouth, MA: <br />Project manager overseeing the site investigation, design and <br />permitting for a new cantilever steel bulkhead. The design also <br />included dredging of 1600 cubic yards of sand with placement <br />as beach nourishment on the adjacent Silver Beach. Mr. <br />Titmuss obtained regulatory approvals for the project as well <br />as developed bid and construction documents. <br />Calf Pasture Fishing Pier, Jetty And Seawall, City Of <br />Norwalk, CT: As Project Manager, investigated and assessed <br />the severely damaged waterfront structures and fishing pier <br />damaged by Hurricane Irene and Super Storm Sandy. An <br />assessment of sea level rise and future storm conditions <br />was performed to evaluate the need to raise the structure. <br />The replacement pier was designed to resist wave impacts <br />and raised in elevation to reduce the loading. Responsible <br />for overall project management including design of repairs, <br />permit approvals and bid and construction documents as <br />well as construction phase services.
