of this ADA compliant replacement berthing facility for the <br />Rhode Island Fast Ferry Service. The project included design <br />and construction of two timber piers and ADA compliant vessel <br />access. The timber piers provided dock access and overnight <br />vessel mooring and were 100 feet and 480 feet in length <br />respectively. Effort included design, permitting, construction <br />documents, bid support and construction phase support. <br />Provincetown Public Marina, Provincetown, MA: Project <br />Manager responsible for all elements of the improvements for <br />the reconstruction, expansion and dredging at the MacMillan <br />Wharf commercial marina. Services included the investigation <br />of current conditions of the marina, development of <br />alternatives for reconstruction and wave attenuation, design <br />of float mooring system for the marina and wave attenuation <br />system, and design of the dredge limits for the proposed <br />improvements including the expansion and protection. <br />Design was to also develop a wave protection system to limit <br />exposure of the marina from major storm events and prevent <br />future damage. Plan included the increase of the marine <br />float dock and attenuation structures by over 100 percent, <br />expansion of berthing by 50 percent and dredging 3,300 cys to <br />accommodate floating concrete wave attenuation units. <br />Harwich Saquatucket Harbor Marina, Town of Harwich, <br />MA: Project Manager for the investigation, design, permitting <br />and construction management of Saquatucket Marina. The <br />project included study and design of ADA compliant access to <br />ferry and other passenger vessels over 40 feet that utilize the <br />marina for passenger services. GEI performed a review of the <br />existing passenger vessel operations, developed the design <br />criteria and prepared conceptual layouts for the vessel berths <br />and the access routes. The project also included dredging <br />of the entire harbor. GEI provided permitting services for <br />the marina reconstruction and dredging. The design of the <br />replacement marina was completed and construction was <br />completed in 2016. <br />Conley Berth 12 Dredging, MASSPORT, South Boston, <br />MA: Project Manager oversaw the investigation and design <br />emergency dredging of Berth 12 to accommodate full draft <br />container vessels. Effort included immediate assessment <br />of actual physical berth depths to vessel requirements, <br />development of proposed dredging plan, assist in obtainment <br />of regulatory approvals including coordination with the <br />USACE for use of CAD cells for disposal and preparation of <br />construction documents for bidding. Services included use of <br />multi-beam hydrographic surveys for accurate determination <br />of existing conditions and dredge volumes. Dredge Cost: <br />$483,500 <br />Black Falcon Cruise Ship Terminal, MASSPORT South <br />Boston, MA: Project Manager for the investigation and <br />design of dredging at Black Falcon Cruise Ship Terminal to <br />accommodate full draft for the Queen Mary II. Effort included <br />immediate assessment of actual physical berth depths to <br />vessel requirements, development of proposed dredging plan, <br />assist in obtainment of regulatory approvals and preparation <br />of construction documents for bidding. The original strategy <br />for the project was coordination with US Army Corps for CAD <br />Cell disposal but testing showed sediments with elevated <br />concentrations of PCBs and all material was processed and <br />disposed upland. Effort included separation of hazardous <br />material found from contaminated dredge materials. Services <br />included use of multi-beam hydrographic surveys for accurate <br />determination of existing conditions and dredge volumes. <br />Town-Wide Dredge & Disposal Permits, Town of Harwich, <br />MA: As Project Manager, worked with the Town of Harwich to <br />assist them in obtaining the regulatory approvals for Town- <br />Wide Dredging and Disposal of their harbors and channels <br />which required constant maintenance dredging. Project <br />areas to include Herring River, Wychmere Harbor Channel, <br />Saquatucket Harbor Channel and Harbor, Allen Harbor <br />Channel, Round Cove Channel. In addition, review and <br />assessment of disposal areas to comprise over 20,000 linear <br />feet of public and private beaches for beach renourishment. <br />Pleasant Bay Dredging Project, Town of Chatham, MA: <br />Project Manager. GEI was selected by the Town of Chatham <br />to assist them in obtaining the regulatory approvals for the <br />dredging of Pleasant Bay which is in an ACEC. This required <br />modification to state regulation (310 CMR 9.40), which <br />prohibits improvement dredging in state–designated ACECs. <br />The need for improvement dredging at this location was <br />coordinated and supported by state officials and the state <br />regulations were revised to now allow limited improvement <br />dredging to preserve traditional navigation within an ACEC. <br />The proposed dredging limits were to be based on “zone- <br />limits” which takes into account the natural channel and <br />shoaling patterns to limit the dredging required and the <br />potential impacts to resource areas. <br />Georges Island, Boston, MA: As Project Manager was <br />responsible for investigation of the existing pier structures and <br />seawalls on Georges Island which is part of the Boston Harbor <br />Islands National Park. The investigation included above <br />and below water inspection of the timber piers and analysis <br />to determine remaining load capacities.
