GEI Consultants | City of Sunny Isles Beach | RFQ 26-07-01 60
Brant Rock Seawall Stabilization
Marshfield, MA | Town of Marshfield
GEI worked with the Town of Marshfield to develop durable long-term
solutions for stabilizing and reconstructing its severely deteriorated
seawall system.
GEI provided engineering services for the investigation and design of repairs to the seawall at
Brant Rock in Marshfield, MA. This seawall had severe deterioration of
the concrete and an area of collapsed wall resulting from a 2015 storm. The initial project
scope was for an investigation including condition survey, wave analysis, and development of
alternatives for repairs and upgrades to the existing seawalls.
The study then progressed to the design of long-term repairs and upgrades to the wall based
on GEI’s recommendations. This included obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals and
providing final construction documents. Regulatory approval was obtained, and construction
of the first phase was performed in 2018. GEI assisted the Town with preparing and filing grant
applications to obtain design and construction funding for this project.
The final design of Phase 1 included 570 linear feet of concrete seawall, which included 200
linear feet of rip rap armor stone to protect the toe of wall during high wave energy events.
Wall height was also increased by 3.5 feet to provide improved flood protection to residents.
The second phase included an additional 600 linear feet of seawall. Phase 2 construction was
completed in 2022.
DATES
Phase 1 Completed: 2018
Phase 2 Completed: 2022
CLIENT REFERENCE
ROD PROCACCINO
Town Engineer
781.834.5561 rprocaccino@
townofmarshfield.org 870
Moraine Street Marshfield,
MA 02050
KEY ELEMENTS
• Condition Survey
• Wave Analysis
• Site Investigations
• Design of Seawall
• Regulatory Applications
• Construction Documents
• Bid Phase Services
• Construction Phase
Services
