VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE RICKENBACKER CAUSEWAY/CRANDON
BOULEVARD TRAFFIC DATA ANALYSIS, KEY BISCAYNE, FL — Project
Manager. Kimley-Horn was selected to prepare a comprehensive traffic data
analysis for the Village of Key Biscayne focused on the Rickenbacker Causeway/
Crandon Boulevard corridor, the sole, land-based roadway connection between
the Village and the mainland. The study was undertaken to address recurring
congestion specifically during weekends, holidays, and special events that
significantly impact residents, visitors, and emergency response operations.
The study established a framework to support both near-term operational
improvements and longer-term planning initiatives.
CITY OF MIAMI BEACH ALTON ROAD AND 16TH STREET LEFT-TURN
LANE WARRANT AND PHASING ANALYSIS, MIAMI BEACH, FL
Project Manager. Kimley-Horn was selected to prepare a left-turn lane warrant
and phasing analysis at the intersection of Alton Road and 16th Street to
evaluate the need for exclusive left-turn lanes at the eastbound and westbound
approaches at the study intersection, and the appropriate left-turn phasing for
the left-turn lanes, if warranted. The study also incorporates conceptual plan
layouts to evaluate the impacts and feasibility of constructing exclusive left-turn
lanes at these approaches, such as determining the impacts to existing utilities,
on-street parking, signage, and traffic signal infrastructure.
MIAMI-DADE TPO SMART GPC PEDESTRIAN SCRAMBLE EVALUATIONS,
MIAMI, FL — Project Manager. Kimley-Horn was selected to complete two
work orders to evaluate the feasibility of installing a pedestrian scramble phase
at two signalized intersections in Miami- Dade County. The studies consisted
of collecting peak period traffic count data, conducting peak period qualitative
field reviews, and evaluating vehicular and pedestrian conditions at the study
intersection before and after the implementation of the pilot pedestrian scramble
phase. The studies also included developing recommendations and potential
countermeasures to improve overall intersection operations and safety at the
intersection, if the pedestrian scramble is implemented.
MIAMI-DADE TPO SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOLS FY 2025/2026, MIAMI-
DADE COUNTY, FL — Project Manager. Kimley-Horn led school evaluations,
improvement planning, and grant application development to enhance walking
and bicycling access to schools. Recommended improvements included
sidewalks, crosswalks, flashing beacons, traffic control enhancements, and ADA-
compliant pedestrian facilities.
CITY OF MIAMI DOWNTOWN CYCLE LENGTH IMPLEMENTATION, MIAMI,
FL — Project Manager. Kimley-Horn analyzed and implemented reduced
signal cycle lengths at 35 downtown intersections to improve pedestrian and
multimodal mobility. The project included signal timing optimization and field
implementation while minimizing impacts to vehicular operations.
