Each
district has been designed to retain its individual identity,
while simultaneously being part of a cohesive complete
street design between Downtown Fort Lauderdale and The
Beach. Miller Legg’s planting design along the corridor was
entirely composed of native and Florida Friendly species
to create a pedestrian friendly environment accenting
each district along Las Olas Boulevard. Miller Legg also
provided placemaking and programming services, for which
the designers created parklets, plazas, and iconic hardscape
elements with water features and public art installations that
work as resting places and wayfinding spots. These systems
incorporate such slogans as “Meet me at Las Olas” “Colee
Hammock” and “The Isles” in the hardscape to promote
wayfinding. Overhead shade structures were also designed
to help with wayfinding through decorative elements subtly
depicting the initials corresponding to each area (eg. “HSLO”
for Historic Shops Las Olas). Miller Legg’s scope included
programming the pedestrian areas along the corridor which
integrated hardscape design, seating design, and open space
utilization. The firm assisted with multiple public outreach
efforts including conceptual graphics and renderings to
support meetings with homeowner association groups.
Miller Legg surveyors used 3D laser scanning equipment to
collect and process LiDAR data in preparation for project
conceptual design data needs.
City of Tamarac Commercial Boulevard Landscaping
Improvements - The City engaged Miller Legg to provide
landscape architectural and survey services for the existing
medians along 1.70 miles of West Commercial Boulevard
between North Pine Island Road and Sawgrass Expressway.
In addition to landscape architecture, a certified arborist
report and survey (including vacuum excavations) services,
the Miller Legg team provided lighting & electrical services,
irrigation design, permitting, and construction administration.
City of Palm Coast - Flagler County Parks and
Recreation Master Plan - Miller Legg worked with the
City of Palm Coast and Flagler County on their Parks and
Recreation Master Plan as a subconsultant to Berry Dunn.
Miller Legg provided public involvement, data collection,
needs and priorities assessment, visioning planning, and
action plan and strategies implementation services for this
PRMP collaboration between the City of Palm Coast and
Flagler County.
