<br />City of Miami E.G. Sewell Park - Miller Legg is under
<br />contract with the City of Miami for program development, pre-
<br />design, master planning design including public involvement
<br />workshops, construction documents and construction
<br />administration services for Sewell Park, a 10.33-acre park on
<br />the Miami River. The program will be an open passive park
<br />with elements including passive walkways through park and
<br />preserve areas, pavilions, an eco-trail, baywalk, hardscape,
<br />floating docks, kayak launch, seawall/living shoreline,
<br />wayfinding and historical information signage. Miller Legg has
<br />performed wetland delineations and a bathymetric survey
<br />for the seawall component. The civil scope entails grading,
<br />drainage and utilities work. The firm has also conducted a
<br />Bonneted Bat survey. The firm is assisting the City to gather
<br />community stakeholder input during the design process.
<br />Government agency permitting will be coordinated with
<br />Miami-Dade County DERM, WASD and SFWMD.
<br />Broward County Parks and Recreation West Lake
<br />Park II - Environmental Services - Permitting and design
<br />of enhancements for the second phase of this 1,500-acre
<br />estuarine wetland. The firm provided both environmental
<br />and engineering services for necessary mitigation for the
<br />Port Everglades and Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International
<br />Airport expansion projects. Services provided included:
<br />paving and drainage improvements for the nature center and
<br />associated parking lot, design of three sewage pump stations,
<br />water distribution system design, sanitary sewage collection
<br />and transmission system design, off-site force main, traffic
<br />engineering, surveying, water quality data analysis, hypothesis
<br />development and review, sediment analysis, fishery analysis,
<br />rip-rap design, benthic macro-invertebrate identification,
<br />seagrass survey, mitigation credit determination, and USACE
<br />dredge and fill permitting. The seagrass survey was conducted
<br />using scuba diving and digital global positioning satellite
<br />equipment and included transect/quadrant measurements of
<br />seagrass density, abundance, and frequency of occurrence.
<br />City of Coconut Creek Oak Trails Park Improvements
<br />- For this Park expansion project under the firm’s Continuing
<br />Services Contract, Miller Legg is the prime firm providing
<br />landscape architecture, planning, civil engineering, surveying
<br />and environmental services from initial design through
<br />construction. The purpose of this scope is to expand the
<br />existing five-acre passive park by incorporating two additional
<br />five-acre parcels, creating a 10-acre expansion area. The
<br />project includes renovating an existing ±1,000 SF residential
<br />building into a nature center with classroom and restroom
<br />facilities. The project will pursue LEED certification while
<br />maintaining a $2.5 million budget, supported in part by
<br />Florida Communities Trust (FCT) grant funding. Proposed
<br />park amenities include water fountains, a multi-use trail,
<br />outdoor fitness equipment, picnic tables, a multi-purpose
<br />field, a butterfly garden, and one acre of native vegetation.
<br />structural engineering, landscape architecture, permitting
<br />assistance and construction phase services for the new
<br />proposed animal interaction arena at Everglades Holiday
<br />Park. Arena will contain seating for up to 600 spectators.
<br />Environmental scope includes preliminary natural resource
<br />permitting investigations, jurisdictional determination and
<br />agency pre-application, environmental resource permitting,
<br />mitigation analysis and a Bonneted Bat roost survey. A
<br />topographical survey, arborist tree inventory, tree removal/
<br />relocation plans and limited construction observation are
<br />included in the scope as well.
<br />Doral Glades Park Boardwalk and Wetland Preserve
<br />- Doral Glades Park is a 25-acre recreational facility in
<br />the northeast section of the City. Both passive and active
<br />elements were featured, including playing fields, community
<br />and nature pavilions, fishing pier, walking trail and wetland
<br />boardwalk. The scope included coordination with the City
<br />on permit compliance, exotic species removal, native species
<br />and maintenance programs; value engineering and design
<br />for the boardwalk(s) and pier(s). Miller Legg developed
<br />a Wetland Mitigation Plan including GIS maps and habitat
<br />evaluation for placement of the boardwalks in ideal locations
<br />within the wetland. These Plans captured data from the
<br />original permits issued by environmental agencies DERM,
<br />SFWMD and USACOE. Further, Miller Legg prepared
<br />construction drawings for the upland boardwalk, pavilion,
<br />wetland boardwalk and fishing pier. Finally, the firm was
<br />responsible for the preparation of environmental resource
<br />permit (ERP) modification applications for boardwalk and
<br />planting in wetland areas. Amenities at the park include: kayak
<br />launch, fishing pier, lake, playground, picnic areas, boardwalks,
<br />a Green Globe Certified (LEED Silver) nature center, bike
<br />lanes, basketball courts, tennis courts and multi-use fields.
<br />City of Miami Armbrister Park Community Center -
<br />Esther Mae Armbrister Park is a 4.4-acre City of Miami Park
<br />with amenities that included an existing community center,
<br />baseball and football fields, tennis and basketball courts,
<br />playground and exercise equipment. The project involved
<br />replacement of the existing community center building with
<br />a new 10,000 SF 2-story facility and outdoor pavilion. Miller
<br />Legg was responsible for civil, landscape architecture and SUE
<br />services along with boundary, topographic and tree surveying.
<br />The firm provided site civil and utility infrastructure research
<br />of utility maps, as-builts and existing site conditions followed
<br />by preparation of civil, landscape architecture and irrigation
<br />construction documents, government agency permitting
<br />coordination, bidding assistance, contract administration
<br />and construction administration. Tree inventory, disposition
<br />plans and permitting are part of the scope provided by the
<br />firm’s certified arborists.
