<br />Everglades Turning Notch Mangrove Wetland Creation
<br />Project. The overall goal of the project was to lengthen
<br />the existing deepwater turn-around area for cargo ships
<br />from 900 feet to 2,400 feet to allow for up to five new
<br />cargo berths. A critical part of the Southport Turning
<br />Notch Extension included replacing 8.7 acres of an existing
<br />mangrove conservation easement with creation of a
<br />16.5-acre mangrove habitat with approximately 70,000
<br />new mangroves and transitional plants from an existing
<br />upland. During this wetlands restoration construction,
<br />the firm provided field support services for environmental
<br />and engineering permit compliance, protected species
<br />observation, including mangroves and manatees, water quality
<br />monitoring, turbidity monitoring, erosion control inspection,
<br />plan review, environmental administration and reporting,
<br />and mangrove and upland planting oversight. Miller Legg was
<br />also responsible for review of post-construction compliance
<br />monitoring for a 5-year period. This was an enabling project
<br />for the $437 million Port Everglades Southport Turning
<br />Notch Expansion project.
<br />City of Coral Springs Tree and Landscape Inspections -
<br />Assisted the city in updating and reviewing its municipal tree
<br />and landscape inventory using the city’s on-line tree inventory
<br />portal. The firm was responsible for quality assurance and
<br />quality control of previously collected tree data in the field, as
<br />well as inventorying newly installed trees. Data was collected
<br />utilizing the City’s cloud based online TreePlotter inventory
<br />portal and which included genus/species, height, size, DBH,
<br />measurement, condition, and replacement value. Tree data
<br />was collected within City medians, right of ways, cul-de-sacs,
<br />and public facilities/parks. Miller Legg reported directly to the
<br />City Arbor and Horticulture Manager of the Public Works
<br />Department.
<br />Everglades Holiday Park Arena - Providing survey,
<br />geotechnical, environmental, civil, mechanical, structural
<br />engineering, landscape architecture, permitting assistance
<br />and construction phase services for the proposed arena at
<br />Everglades Holiday Park.
<br />City of Wellington Aquatics Center Village Park A
<br />- For the new center located in the Village Park Athletics
<br />Complex, Miller Legg provided arborists and landscape
<br />architecture services. Scope includes design development,
<br />irrigation design, and construction observation. Our certified
<br />arborists performed a tree inventory and prepared a tree
<br />removal and/or relocation plan. Amenities include a multi-
<br />purpose pool with a play structure and rental cabanas, a
<br />competition pool, 7,500 SF pool house including a concession
<br />stand, locker rooms, as well as facility parking for cars, buses
<br />and bicycles. Miller Legg is a subconsultant to Ohlson Lavoie
<br />Corporation Architects.

<br />Our biologists will temporarily relocate corals and upon
<br />completion of construction, will move the corals within the
<br />riprap so that its orientation and depth are comparable with
<br />its original position. Miller Legg is a subconsultant to BCC
<br />Engineering for this City of Miami Miscellaneous Continuing
<br />Services Contract project.
<br />City of Homestead Biscayne-Everglades Greenway Trail
<br />- Among the services Miller Legg provided for this 3.2 mile,
<br />12-foot-wide Biscayne Everglades Greenway shared-use trail
<br />project are landscape architectural, engineering, surveying
<br />and environmental services including preparation of FDOT-
<br />approved construction documents, design of regulatory and
<br />wayfinding signs, pavement markings, safe pedestrian push
<br />button crossing and necessary drainage within the C-103
<br />Canal right-of-way from East Mowry Drive to SW 137th
<br />Avenue in Homestead. The scope of services was based upon
<br />a 2017 Florida Shared-use Non-Motorized Trail Agreement
<br />between the City of Homestead and FDOT. Topographic
<br />and SUE services were delivered. The scope included
<br />engineering design and permitting services for the shared-use
<br />trail, associated drainage and roadway pedestrian crossings.
<br />The firm also carried out Preliminary Natural Resource and
<br />Protected Species Investigations and documents related
<br />to designation of the Project by FDOT as a Documented
<br />Categorical Exclusion. The project was funded by a SUN Trail
<br />Grant through FDOT.
<br />Broward County Parks and Recreation West Lake
<br />Park II - Environmental Services - Permitting and design
<br />of enhancements for the second phase of this 1,500-acre
<br />estuarine wetland. The firm provided both environmental
<br />and engineering services for necessary mitigation for the
<br />Port Everglades and Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International
<br />Airport expansion projects. Services provided included:
<br />paving and drainage improvements for the nature center
<br />and associated parking lot, design of three sewage pump
<br />stations, water distribution system design, sanitary sewage
<br />collection and transmission system design, off-site force
<br />main, traffic engineering, surveying, water quality data
<br />analysis, hypothesis development and review, sediment
<br />analysis, fishery analysis, rip-rap design, benthic macro-
<br />invertebrate identification, seagrass survey, mitigation credit
<br />determination, and USACE dredge and fill permitting. The
<br />seagrass survey was conducted using scuba diving and digital
<br />global positioning satellite equipment and included transect/
<br />quadrant measurements of seagrass density, abundance, and
<br />frequency of occurrence.
