A frequent <br />lecturer and tour leader, they are an expert at integrating architecture, landscape, <br />and water system challenges into pictures that suggest innovative solutions <br />and capture the spirit of a place. Rami was a key part of the firm’s leadership in <br />developing the Living With Water® movement in New Orleans after Hurricane <br />Katrina. In the Dutch Dialogues New Orleans effort, Rami led site visits, research, <br />and design workshops, collaborating with a large, international, multidisciplinary <br />team of experts. Building on expertise developed in Dutch Dialogues, Rami <br />helped lead research and authorship of the Greater New Orleans Urban Water <br />Plan, a regional-scale vision for sustainable and resilient water management <br />for the metro area. The Plan catalyzed a paradigm shift in understanding risk, <br />flooding, and how stormwater is managed. Rami also leads the firm’s Living With <br />Water® effort on the East Coast. <br />USACE Miami-Dade Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility <br />Study, Miami, FL. Urban design lead, engaged since 2022 as an advisor to <br />Miami-Dade County’s Office of Environmental Risk and Resilience, responsible <br />for leading the development of design charrettes to develop integrated, place- <br />based flood risk reduction solutions. Guided urban design strategy for storm surge <br />mitigation infrastructure to protect the County while preserving its urban character <br />and enhancing public space. <br />Village of Key Biscayne Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Study, Key <br />Biscayne, FL. Urban design lead who led creation of conceptual renderings scaled <br />to represent the flood risk reduction measures being proposed by the USACE in <br />various Village neighborhoods. Moffatt & Nichol is serving in a technical advisory <br />role to support the Village with the USACE CSRM study for the development of <br />shoreline stabilization and flood protection alternatives for the beaches and back <br />bay as part of the Village’s Elevating Our Island Paradise Resilience Program with <br />the goal of protecting the Village from the effects of flooding, sea level rise, and <br />environmental changes. Developing alternative solutions for shoreline stabilization, <br />working with USACE and Village to integrate nature-based solutions for shoreline <br />stabilization. <br />Chesapeake Industrial Waterfront Study, Chesapeake, VA. Resiliency and project <br />lead for this study that will determine the highest and best use for waterfront lands, <br />understand the impacts of coastal water hazards such as flooding and heavy rain <br />events, and identify strategies to mitigate those issues. <br />Living with Water® Master Plan (Battleship North Carolina), Wilmington, NC. <br />Resiliency lead for the urban design vision and developed the Story Map for <br />this project, which reimagined the USS North Carolina Battleship parking lot to <br />address chronic tidal flooding. The work supported a resilient redesign using <br />green infrastructure to improve water quality, enhance visitor experience, and <br />create educational opportunities.
