Pompano Beach City Lot (Senior Center) <br />2005 NW 9th Street, Pompano Beach, Broward County, Florida <br />A former filling station/automotive dealership <br />(Southern Oil Service) occupied the northeast <br />portion of the property from approximately 1958 to <br />1962. During construction activities for the City of <br />Pompano Beach Senior Center, the construction <br />company found two 1,000-gallon capacity <br />underground storage tanks (USTs) and associated <br />piping that previously unknown. <br />In response to the discovery of the USTs, PSI <br />mobilized to the site to begin tank closure and <br />assessment activities. PSI successfully removed the <br />USTs from the property and were able to perform <br />the tank closure activities without delaying the <br />construction occurring on the property. During <br />assessment activities, petroleum contamination in <br />the groundwater was identified. PSI submitted a <br />Discharge Reporting Form (DRF) and Tank Closure <br />Assessment Report (TCAR), registered the USTs with <br />the Florida Department of Environmental Protection <br />(FDEP) on the City of Pompano Beach’s behalf, and <br />began Site Assessment Report (SAR) activities. <br />As part of the SAR, PSI created and submitted, on <br />behalf of the City, an application for environmental assessment and remediation license to the Broward County <br />Board of County Commissioners. PSI then installed five shallow and one deep monitoring well to delineation the <br />impacted groundwater in both the horizontal and vertical dimensions.
