18
City of Sunny Isles Beach | RFQ 26-07-01
Continuing Professional Architectural and Engineering | General Civil Engineer
PAGE 2
Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department: Small Diameter/Small Water Main Replacement Program PCTS
15739, 16310, 15158, 16076, 15752, 16171, 16163, 16331, 20002, 2018
Miami-Dade County, FL
All the residents in that area will be required to abandon their existing
septic systems and connect to the new sewer lateral that will be designed
for each house. Through this new project, each property will be provided
with a new 6” sanitary sewer lateral, new water meter and water service
that is connected to the new mains in the street. Design Completed:
10/2024 Cost: $9M
Connect to Protect – Atlas S14 (PCTS 16310)
Connect to Protect Project for Atlas S14 in the City of Sweetwater was
one of the project Ross worked on under the continuing contract. The
purpose of this very important project endorsed by the Mayor of Miami
Dade County is to extend sanitary sewer service to residents with septic
systems in order to protect properties, health, and natural areas such as
Biscayne Bay. The septic systems that were considered by MD-WASD to
be vulnerable or may fail by 2040 were the priority for this analysis. Ross
provided an engineering evaluation and technical memorandum for the
Connect to Protect (i.e., Septic to Sewer)
program for 1-square mile of Atlas S14.
The technical memorandum was an
assessment of the existing sewer assets
in the right-of-way and the possibility for
providing lateral connections from the
existing gravity sewer to the property
boundary. This analysis was for all
vulnerable parcels in the atlas which
currently use septic systems, and which
abut existing gravity sewers. A thorough
investigation of this area was completed
via GIS database and as-builts provided
by MD-WASD and City of Sweetwater.
Out of the 102 parcels analyzed in Atlas
S14, only 81 lateral connections were
possible based on the criteria.
These 81 possible connections are
based on adjacent sewer laterals,
however water main offsets may be
required where the laterals cross over
large water mains.
