19
City of Sunny Isles Beach | RFQ 26-07-01
Continuing Professional Architectural and Engineering | General Civil Engineer
Project Description
Our Continuing Contract with the School Board started in 2018 under
RFQ #17-114C, Ross was assigned a 5-year drainage recertification task
work order which includes drainage analysis and drainage design on
sites where flooding is an issue. Ross was recently re-selected for this
contract in 2023 to continue consulting on the School Board’s drainage
infrastructure through 2028. Since 2018, Ross has successfully inspected
and certified over 45 schools in Broward County. The schools’ range in
size from over 50 acres with 112 drainage structures to 15 acres with 30
structures. Each site was broken down into the following process:
Typical 5 year drainage certification process:
• Schedule inspection at school
• Perform inspection at school
• Prepare inspection report
• QA/QC Review
• Opinion of probable cost
• Coordinate with SBBC & contractor to request cost estimate
• Review cost estimate from cost estimate and request PO
• Perform follow-up inspection post contractor maintenance, 1st
• Prepare follow-up report
• Perform follow-up inspection post contractor maintenance, 2nd
• Prepare Renewal Letter including check request
• Follow-up with County and notify SBBC of completed SWM
renewal
Some school sites have existing flooding issues and a new mandate
by the school board commission board has been implemented to
upgrade existing school properties to eliminate flooding and protect
buildings and facilities onsite. Ross has utilized both ICPR 4.0 and
SFWMD CASCADE modeling software to perform drainage studies on
several school sites. From the studies, concept designs are submitted
to the School Board PM for review and in most cases final design and
permitting is initiated and commenced. Solutions include gravity
drainage wells, exfiltration trenches, retention areas, wet ponds, swales
etc. Below are a sample of schools that were certified or in the process of
the 5-year certification with Broward County, South Broward Drainage
District, Indian Trace Improvement District, Sunshine Water control
District and Cocomar Water Control District.
• Bayview Elementary School – Fort Lauderdale (Broward County)
• Blanche Ely High School – Pompano Beach FL (Broward County)
• Coral Glades High School – Coral Springs FL (Sunshine Water
Control District)
• Falcon Cove Middle School – Weston FL (Indian Trace
improvement District)
BROWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS CIVIL ENGINEERING
CONTINUING SERVICES
Broward County, FL
Client Reference
Teresa A.
