ELECTRICAL ENGINEERS <br />52 <br />4.7 Scheduling Methodology in Action <br />SGM's schedule method is built around the constraint that can stop the work, not just the design- <br />production duration. These examples demonstrate how field conditions, ongoing operations, and multi- <br />system interfaces are incorporated into the plan. <br />Critical operations and emergency power <br />At Marion County Public Schools' Northwest Transportation Compound, the primary bus maintenance, <br />fueling, and transportation communications functions had to remain available during severe-weather <br />and outage conditions. SGM verified existing loads, coordinated the owner-furnished 300 kW generator <br />and 800A service-rated ATS, defined distribution modifications, and provided for future expansion. Aligning <br />equipment, existing-service interfaces, and operational continuity in the design work plan supported <br />completion in the planned 2023 period at the documented $350,000 cost. <br />CONCURRENT SYSTEMS IN AN OCCUPIED FACILITY <br />The OCPS Glenridge Middle School renewal combined lighting, fire alarm, intercom, VFD electrical <br />connections, BAS/power infrastructure, and major mechanical systems. SGM's milestone coordination <br />and interdisciplinary reviews kept system interfaces visible as the documents advanced. The project <br />records report the planned and actual completion in 2024 and no variance between the $4.9 million <br />budget/estimate and actual cost. <br />CRITICAL ELECTRICAL-SERVICE REPLACEMENT <br />At SBBC Ely High School, SGM supported replacement of the two-section, 3,000A main switchgear through <br />field verification, construction documents, and construction administration. This same sequence - verify <br />before design, identify cutover and operating constraints, coordinate procurement, and maintain CA <br />continuity - will be applied to Sunny Isles Beach facility replacements. The reported project met its 2021 <br />completion and $250,000 cost targets. <br />Relevance to Sunny Isles Beach Street and sports-field lighting, generators, switchgear, facility electrical <br />renovations, and security/technology upgrades can be schedule-driven by utilities, public use, special <br />events, outages, and long-lead equipment. SGM places those constraints on the baseline schedule at <br />kickoff and assigns an owner to each one. <br />4.8 Quality Assurance / Quality Control <br />Quality is scheduled as work, assigned to named reviewers, and evidenced by records. SGM's QA/QC <br />process begins with a project-specific quality plan and ends only when comments are closed and the <br />EOR authorizes release.
