He has served as the lead designer for multiple transportation agencies small structure replacement projects, bridge rehabilitation projects, and bridge replacement projects. Mr. Hott has spent time as a construction engineer. Through these unique experiences, has gained a firm grasp on bridge design, inspection, and constructability. <br />EXPERIENCE <br />County Road 1100W over Interstate 70 in Morgan County, IN | Project Manager/EOR on all structural items - This project involves replacing the superstructure on an existing 235-foot long, four span structure. Zed was responsible for the design of the new continuous, rolled W36x steel beam superstructure and substructure widening. The existing foundations could not support the new superstructure loading due to the change in continuity over the shoulder piers. The existing hammerhead style piers were removed down to the footer, widened with new piling and footers, and replaced with a wall type pier to support the new vertical loads. Zed was also responsible for developing design plans and contract documents to ensure compliance with his design. <br />US 40 over Noland’s Fork, Wayne County, IN | EOR on all structural items - This structure is a 216-foot long, three span, continuous, AASHTO Type III girder (prestress beam similar to a FIB) with a continuous cast in place deck and wall piers supported on pipe piles. Zed served as the design engineer for whole structure including the concrete deck, prestressed beams, abutments, wall pier, and pile foundations. <br />SR-1 over Butlers Run Bridge, Franklin County, IN | Project Manager/ EOR on all structural items - This structure consists is a 90-foot long, single span, prestressed, 36-inch Hybrid Bulb Tee Beam. The proposed semi-integral abutments are supported on steel H-Piles. Zed was responsible for the bridge deck design, superstructure bulb tee girder design, and the abutment design for this project. The project was designed to the current AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. <br />SR 16 over Weesau Creek in Miami County, IN | Design Engineer/EOR on all structural items - This structure is a 43-foot, 6-inch long, single span, reinforced concrete slab structure. The structure is supported on a semi-integral, 25-foot tall, retaining wall type abutment on a spread footer on battered and vertical H-piles. Zed served as the designer for this structure.
