James also served on steering committees for Palm Tran’s update to their Transit Development Plan.
FDOT Safety Office, Root Cause Analysis l Team Member - James worked on a project team tasked with conducting a Root Cause Analysis for various crash types on FDOT’s statewide road system. He helped with the data cleaning and analysis of “Fixed Object Run off the Road” crashes. He used software such as ArcGIS Pro and Tableau to identify trends in the crash data. James was also tasked with overseeing quality control for the infographics created by the design team.
IMPO, Crash Data Cleanup, Indianapolis, IN | Project Manager - The Crash Data Cleanup contract with the Indianapolis MPO has been renewed with Corradino every year since 2018. Corradino takes the fatal and incapacitating crash data from ARIES and validates that the records are accurately placed along the roadway or intersection reflected in the police report. He developed the award-winning crash data dashboard.
INDOT, Safety Office On-Call Services, Indianapolis, IN | Project Manager - Corradino has held an on-call contract with the INDOT Safety Office for nearly 10 years, during which they have performed roadway safety audits and crash data cleaning exercises for several of the INDOT Districts. James took over the project management of the contract in May 2023, during which time he assisted the safety office in cleaning and analyzing crash records.
IMPO, Intersection Safety Studies, Indianapolis, IN | Senior Transportation Planner - Perform Intersection Safety Studies at 19 locations selected from the High Injury Network. Corradino is leading a team to review the intersections, host field visits with stakeholders, and develop a road safety audit with recommendations for each intersection. The road safety audits are compiled into a final report and shared with local municipalities, who can use them in their federal-HSIP grant applications.
Hamilton County Highway Department, Olio Road Corridor Study, Hamilton County, IN | Project Manager - The scope of the corridor study was to conduct an alternative analysis at eight different intersections and analyze the possibility of a roadway "diet" that improved safety and bicycle and pedestrian connectivity while maintaining traffic capacity along the corridor. The project team also looked at possibilities to “diet” the roadway in between intersections while maintaining the goals of the study.
Johnson County Highway Department (JCHD), CR 144 & Smokey Row Road Roadway Safety Audit, Johnson County, IN | Project Manager - This intersection is approximately two miles east of the new CR 144 (SR 144) interchange constructed as part of the I-69 south project. Traffic growth along CR 144 has increased significantly, along with the frequency and severity of crashes at the intersection with Smokey Row Road. James managed the roadway safety audit, which included a field visit, crash data analysis, and a traffic capacity analysis to propose a near-term and long-term solution to address traffic and safety concerns. JCHD applied for funding through the IMPO’s FY 2024 Call for Projects to construct the near-term recommendation.
Indianapolis Public Transportation Authority (IndyGo), Indianapolis, IN | Service Planning Manager - Developed the Service Planning Department’s first bus stop improvement program database to track local and grant funding for capital projects. James helped write several grants for the design and construction of bus stops, established new workflows for reviewing bus route updates, bus stop inventory, and developed GIS models to identify Indianapolis DPW roadway projects along bus routes.
IMPO, Transportation Improvement Program, Indianapolis, IN | Transportation Planner - James gained full understanding of project funding, programming, and the Call for Projects process. He has direct SS4A application experience, and has built tools to assist the industry with various funding applications. He provided technical assistance to the IMPO’s Long-Range Transportation Planning and Data Section.
JAMES MARK RINEHART, RSP1SENIOR PLANNER
